Commander (1)

Commander: Animar, Soul of Elements

Enchantment (1)

This is one of my oldest decks, existing since Animar came out. It's Animar mono creature. No walkers, no instants or sorceries, no artifacts or enchantments, just creatures. Yes, going mono creature does weaken the deck. Not having Cloudstone Curio, card:Alluran, Glimpse of Nature, or Hardened Scales means less combo potential. Even without those normally signature cards he's still a beast.

This deck can go infinite as early as turn 4, but tends to combo out turn 5 or 6. Animar is a scary commander, no lie. If he gets traction it's really hard to run it back, especially if he drops Maelstrom Wanderer and gives his entire field haste. Downside to Animar is he isn't exactly a surprise deck. Any player worth their salt will take one look at him and know he's the linchpin to the entire deck. If he's countered or killed before he gets big that can really slow his roll.

Once he gets rolling it's hard to stop. The trick to playing Animar is learning to juggle all the self-bounce and ETB triggers. Generally he hunts for his infinites, but having a turn 4 hasty Eldrazi titan also has a habit of closing out the game early.

===Combos===

Animar, Soul of Elements + Ancestral Statue = Infinite Animar. By lacking that key word 'other' in its effect, Ancestral Statue is allowed to bounce itself on the play. Normally this would be pointless, but since Animar gets a +1/+1 counter each time you cast a creature spell, and at 4 counters on Animar the statue is free, that means you can pump Animar up to any arbitrary number you want.

Animar, Soul of Elements + Vizier of the Menagerie + Grinning Ignus = Infinite mana and infinite Animar. So this is an odd one I don't see played all too often. Vizier is a beast. Him and Oracle of Mul Daya almost lets you play your library as your hand, but the fact that Vizier filters all your mana is the key here. So here's how it goes: You use Ignus's ability to return him to your hand to get 2R. Vizier lets you use the colorless mana as any color to cast creature spells, so you then use one of the colorless to recast Ignus (since by now Animar has at least 2 counters on him, making Ignus's cost R instead of 2R). You then use the R still floating from Ignus's ability to bounce him back to your hand, netting 1 colorless in the process. Repeat as much as you want.

Animar, Soul of Elements + Temur Sabertooth + Peregrine Drake or Great Whale or Palinchron = Infinite mana and infinite Animar. This one is easy. You need 1GU or 1GUU depending on the blue creature in the combo, but it's easy enough to pull off. You spend 1G to bounce one of the untap creatures back to your hand, then cast them again. With Animar's discount you're netting more lands untapped than the mana spent. Plus, since you're bouncing and recasting the creatures you can continue to increase Animar's size to whatever you want, and have all the colors you'll ever need.

Deadeye Navigator + Peregrine Drake or Great Whale or Palinchron = Infinite Mana This one is the more commonly seen combo. Deadeye partners with any of the land untappers and just goes to town. That simple. If all you need is to trigger an ETB then this also works with card:Cloud of Farries, though it doesn't net you mana.

Purphoros, God of the Forge or Walking Ballista + Infinite Animar or Infinite Mana = Win Any time you get into any of the above loops you can win with either of these cards. Purphoros deals 2 damage whenever a creature enters under your control, so your damage output is essentially infinity x2, and with infinitely huge Animar or infinite mana you can make a Walking Ballista big enough to snipe all of your opponents, all of their creatures, and all of their walkers. Basically you're turning your Ballista into the Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan.

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Pestermite or Deceiver Exarch = Infinite dudes Another classic. Kiki taps to make a copy of the untapper, untapper copy enters, it untaps Kiki, repeat for infinite hasty dudes. Either attack everyone with 1 billion minions, or have Purphoros down and just win.
