My thoughts on necro exactly. Not sure why everyone is raving about it.

You draw into Entomb .

Awesome deck! Is the only win con Worldgorger combo? Is there a way to add a second win con to this deck that isn't through combo. Love the combo but my playgroup wont and will likely grumble after the first time they play against this.

you draw into entomb, but what if you draw worldgorger with necropotence?

Hissp says... #5

My understand of the rules is this:

Let's say you Necropotence for 30 life/cards. To win during the cleanup step you need B available.

1) Beginning of end step you put your face-down pile of 30 cards into your hand. You move to cleanup step.

2) You discard to hand size. For round numbers let's say you had 2 cards in hand so you discard 25 cards.

3) At this point a whole bunch of triggers go on the stack. 25 exile the card you discarded b/c Necropotence and however many untap triggers for Anje Falkenrath b/c you discarded madness cards. To make it simple let's say your 30-card pile was Worldgorger Dragon , Dark Ritual , Necromancy , and 27 lands.

4) Worldgorger Dragon is current in your graveyard -- with the exile triggers on the stack -- b/c you just discarded it along with 24 lands. WHILE those triggers are still on the stack. You cast Dark Ritual . Dark Ritual resolves. You now have BBB in your mana pool. You cast Necromancy targeting Worldgorger Dragon . Necromancy resolves BEFORE the exile triggers.

5) Worldgorger Dragon shenanigans ensue :)

Basically what Hissp said. The key being Necropotence to exile isn't a replacement effect, it's a triggered ability that can be responded to with Necromancy to win immediately.

Resolving Necropotence often means you win that turn. You can often pay down to a very low life total, discard Worldgorger, and then use rituals to cast Necromancy (using instant speed tutors along the way if needed).

Colonel_Kink says... #7

huh, i didnt realise necromancy was instant speed. i guess that makes it work. but that only gives you a 16-20% chance of going off if you necro for 30. in the event you fail to find either piece what then? surely the next turn you are dead as the opponents will kill you at <10 life

artichoker says... #8

No, you have a much higher chance than just 16-20% because you can draw into instant speed tutors. And don’t forget that Anje continues to filter all your madness cards. So in reality if you necro for 30, you’re often seeing closer to 60 cards. Also, as with any other CEDH deck, how much to pay for necro is a judgment call. If it’s coming out t2-3, very few tables can inflict 10 points of damage on you during a single turn pass. If it’s coming out later, you need to judge the board state accordingly. Like other decks, there are a lot of decision points to be made here during each of your plays. You should never blindly just take an action without considering the rest of the board, your meta, and the types of decks you’re playing against.

I like adding apocalypse, as some sort of win condition and boardwipe. Since you run a whole lot of madness creatures, you can tap all your mana, cast apocalypse, then discard your hand, play the madness creatures you want/can, and even recast anje. Wiping all players mana and boards while letting you play with those madness creatures and further dig for mana/potential plays with Anje could be game winning. Just a little high risk, but high reward if it goes well.

You can break the deck down like so:

filter 39

land 27

out 16 (combo pieces and tutors)

ramp 11

util 6

The opening hand should include enough land+ramp to get Anje out turn 2. Turns 2 and 3 you should be rummaging to find some combination of:

1) Worldgorger Dragon + Animate Dead / Dance of the Dead / Necromancy

2) Necropotence

3) Doomsday

What's your preferred Doomsday pile?

August 27, 2019 8:40 p.m.

artichoker says... #17

The standard doomsday pile is:

Preconditions: Anje out, 1 madness card in hand, 1B mana available.

TOP

  • Worldgorger Dragon
  • Animate Dead/Dance of the Dead/Necromancy
  • Avacyn's Judgment
  • Cut // Ribbons
  • Bloodhall Priest

BOTTOM

(order/number of last 3 cards don't really really matter, as long as you have one outlet)

Line of play: Discard the madness card to Anje, drawing Worldgorger and untapping Anje. Discard Worldgorger to Anje, drawing Animate Dead. Cast Animate Dead targeting Worldgorger. Win.

I'll go ahead and update the description with this.

Hey there I build a Anje list on a 100€ budget. I would apriciate any kind of help.

Anje Budget

August 29, 2019 8:41 a.m.

I think LED can be added as a ritual when rummaging with madness cards.

  1. Cast LED
  2. Activate Anje and discard a card with madness.
  3. Untap Anje, and before drawing a card, repeat step 2, until all of the madness cards have been discarded.
  4. Still before drawing the cards, sacrifice LED adding 3 mana and discarding the rest of your cards.
  5. Resolve all of the draw triggers, and hope that you'll draw the cards you need.

  6. If not, then just continue to rummage the newly drawn madness cards.

Faithless Looting ? Just in case we cant get to a madness card. It also helps discard a madness card if Anje is ever tapped for some reason.

@Klancik - yup; it's great in doomsday piles too. It was in an earlier version and I took it out a bit for testing. Adding it back in since it's definitely worth it.

Because im bad can someone explain demonic consultation for this deck?

September 6, 2019 6:54 p.m.

Snowflakz says... #24

can you maybe update the decklist with the cuts you made ? Would be awesome:)

September 7, 2019 3:42 a.m.

Klancik says... #25

ReZileancy Consultation is an instant speed find a win con. It's also an instant card to cast after Bloodhall Priest entering so that we're hellbent. Naming a card that's not in the deck works but is of course dangerous so naming another instant also works.
