Anje's Madness

_We all hide a little madness behind our sophistication, do we not? _

The objective of this list, and the commander as a whole, is to deviate from the regular aggressive cards from Rakdos. This deck is not like most other Rakdos EDH decks; its not focused on demons or goblins or mass burn, but value through Anje and madness cards. The deck aims to cycle through cards using the commander and reanimate large creatures that you dump into the bin. This deck is by no means a heavy hitter, but it can certainly pack a punch when it gets going.
This deck, as mentioned in the previous section, is not one that can hit hard and KO people in one turn through large creatures. This deck is for the value players, and the ones that think ahead, and are preparing for two, three, or even four turns down the line. Anje generates tons of value by going around three cards deep every turn, while cards like Warstorm Surge, Flayer of the Hatebound, and Anger can be used for those large set up turns.
The central and overarching theme of the deck is the digging, and Anje's best way to dig is through discarding madness card after madness card. While most cards with madness in the deck are meant to be played, there are some in there just to untap Anje. Those cards include Incorrigible Youths , Stensia Masquerade , Bloodmad Vampire , Twins of Maurer Estate , and Bloodhall Priest . Malevolent Whispers , Asylum Visitor , and Anje's Ravager are good under certain circumstances, but can be thrown away in a pinch. There are also three what I call 'generic' madness cards; they have text but don't truly impact the game all to much. Those include Gisa's Bidding , Psychotic Episode , and Gorgon Recluse .
Sometimes board states get clogged or particular cards just take over the game, and like any good EDH deck, this one has ways to answer these sticky situations. Oftentimes, madness cards come with a mana reduction, and that makes them more efficient removal spells. These madness removal spells are Murderous Compulsion , Avacyn's Judgment , Nightshade Assassin , Big Game Hunter , Dark Withering , and Terminate . Don't forget about the classic Chaos Warp too. Blasphemous Act and Toxic Deluge are powerful board wipes, while Archfiend of Ifnir and Voldaren Pariah   can also do the trick. You're oftentimes discarding enough cards to wipe your opponents' boards with the Archfiend, and making each player sacrifice three creatures with the Pariah can clear things up too.
One of the ways this deck pulls ahead value-wise is through reanimation. By getting large creatures to the battlefield and madness cards back to your hand for Anje use later, you can create huge amounts of extra value. The reanimation package for this deck includes Chainer, Nightmare Adept , Animate Dead , Sheoldred, Whispering One , Palace Siege , Living Death , Phyrexian Reclamation , Call to the Netherworld , Mikaeus, the Unhallowed , Magus of the Will , Beacon of Unrest and Grave Scrabbler . There are also some great creatures to reanimate as well. Murderous Rider , as mentioned previously, is great when you can get it back to your hand and use it again. Solemn Simulacrum is an all around awesome card, provinding ramp on entering the battlefield and card draw upon death. Cavalier of Flame is a great wheel effect on a creature, and using it over and over again can be very potent. Lastly, Gonti, Lord of Luxury and Sepulchral Primordial just have great ETB effects to use over and over again.
In addition to value provided through reanimation, there are other ways to gain value. Faith of the Devoted is a life disparity card when used with Anje, and Mad Ratter is a fun include because there's the possibility of generating two 1/1's on every person's turn in combination with the commander. Squee, Goblin Nabob can be dumped with Anje every rotation of the table at no cost, providing extra card draw. Sunbird's Invocation is a crazily busted card in red, letting you pseudo cascade of of every spell you cast, including from your madness cards. Bone Miser is essentially a Waste Not , but cares about you discarding instead of opponents, and is insane in this deck. Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger can take over games very quickly. Conspiracy Theorist is the newest addition to the deck, and is perfect for any deck discarding cards, because it essentially give all your cards madness.
Sometimes its necessary, the cards that take over games and leverage you into the leading position. Sepulchral Primordial is similar to that as well. From Under the Floorboards , when cast on end step on an opponent's turn, can flood the board with enough zombies to KO someone and leave you with life to spare. Lastly, Avacyn's Judgment can a) Kill enough creatures to leverage you into an advantageous position, or b) Bring a player dead or close enough for your forces to destroy them.
Flayer of the Hatebound and Warstorm Surge are very potent when you can bring numerous creatures into play in one turn. Luckily, this deck has such cards. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed gives your creatures a second chance at life, bringing them back and triggering the Warstorm Surge and/or Flayer of the Hatebound . Underworld Breach and Magus of the Will let you essentially cast your graveyard, triggering the two aforementioned cards.
If it gets down to a one on one match, the deck really shines due to the aggressive finish it can pack. Anger , Olivia, Mobilized for War , and Chainer, Nightmare Adept all grant haste to your creatures, and when flooding the board through Magus of the Will or Underworld Breach , you can absolutely KO people.
This deck, like every other EDH deck, has its weaknesses. Rest in Peace removes an entire strategy to this deck, Bojuka Bog restarts the game for this deck in certain ways, removing the graveyard and forcing you to start over. Cards that prevent alternate mana costs are often miserable for this deck, and a regular weakness for any Rakdos deck are card it cannot remove, particularly indestructible and enchantments.
This deck is one that bodes its time, and subtly gains advantage while the opponents fight amongst themselves. Planning ahead is key to winning, and navigating the political currents of the game can often place you into a better spot.
