Elements of this deck:

Waste Not / Liliana's Caress : One gives you stuff for free and the other hurts your opponent. In the best case you can cast them early and make your opponent discard his cards with Mire's Toll , Black Cat , Hypnotic Specter , Fell Specter , Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage and of course Liliana Vess .

Nyxathid is just a huge beater, since your opponent will soon be empty-handed.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel has the potential for a huge life drain in this mono-black deck.

Swamp power: Mire's Toll , Nightmare and Corrupt get better the longer the game continues.

Sideboard: Replace Doom Blade with Ultimate Price against black and with Virulent Plague against token decks.
