The deck idea is about dealing with threats. There are a few board sweepers, but the main point is trying to just keep the board nice and neat. In multiplayer, it tries to ensure that no-one gets a real edge. All those annoying Bloodchief Ascensions, Blightsteel Colossus, and other threats just disappear...

Furthermore, the deck uses stack abuse in order to ensure that Mangara doesn't actually go to the command zone very much. While Karakas is still banned in commander, the deck can use cards like whitemane lion to serve its place.
