what about Spell Crumple , for when you can't get at Hinder ?

I had one back then. Just felt I needed more low cmc counterspells like Arcane Denial , Swan Song , Negate and Dispel since I use them primarily to ensure I have enough mana to combo and counter. I might try and bring it back to replace Foil . Thanks for the suggestion.

Bloodchief Ascension with Mindcrank could be another infinite win-con.

Megalomania says... #7

I had one but, since this deck hardly attacks, I found activating the crank to be difficult.

Do you have the original Lazav decklist?

I've been looking at building him and a deck that got hated out of it's playgroup sounds about right for the level I want.

I'm afraid not. Sorry. It is pretty similar to this one though. Just add creatures like Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker , Nemesis of Reason , Consuming Aberration and Geth, Lord of the Vault to help deal some damage to activate Bloodchief Ascension and mill as well.

It also made use of more discard spells/creatures like Wheel and Deal , Whispering Madness and Jace's Archivist making Megrim and Liliana's Caress an alternative win con for the deck.

Take out the counterspells since you really won't be needing them that much.

I'm having a problem choosing which among Phyrexian Arena , Rhystic Study or Arcanis the Omnipotent would be best for the deck. I need your inputs guys.

I'd use Phyrexian Arena if your playing 1v1 and I'd use Rhystic Study if your playing multiplayer.

Megalomania says... #13

I was interested in using Arcanis because of Mind Over Matter. Lol. I'm playing mostly multiplayer games. Guess Rhystic Study will have to do for now.

No one in my play group wants me to draw cards but they almost never pay the extra one colourless to stop me. In a 4 player game I'll usually draw 3 or more cards by the time it's been passed aroun to me anyways. The earlier Rhystic Study hits the board the better for me. Now Arcanis the Omnipotent + Mind Over Matter is incredible card drawing power/synergy, if you did add him you would also be forced to add Laboratory Maniac as it allows you the win on the spot if all three are on the board. Tapping Arcanis to draw three, discard one, repeat till self mill.

I was thinking of doing just that but i'm already having a hard time finding a slot for Arcanis so finding one for the Lab Maniac will have to wait. I'm not even sure if I still need a three-card win con since I already have a Mind Over Matter + Temple Bell combo which practically does the same thing except for the third key card Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre which I only need to discard.

Have you thought of using training grounds? Its pretty sick and helps mill quite fast!

For Oona? I'm not sure how much use it will be for my deck but it is a pretty good card.

September 18, 2014 2:10 a.m.

Darkmelody12 says... #18

It essentially makes it so you can pay one B/U to mill for two. I ran it in my Oona deck and it sped up the milling process quite nicely.

Megalomania says... #19

If that's the only use it will have, I don't think it will be worth the slot especially since i'm running couple of infinite mana combos in the deck.

darthskat says... #20

I cut it from my Oona deck because she only ever came out if I was infinite.

True and right now I am leaning towards the idea of losing the Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth combo in favor of draw engines like Arcanis the Omnipotent and Phyrexian Arena .

September 18, 2014 12:53 p.m.

darthskat says... #22

Because it's colourless vs coloured mana? I have been lucky to Mind Grind with a B and a U open for the win, but I see why it's questionable.

September 18, 2014 4:24 p.m.

Megalomania says... #23

Yes and i've taken out Mind Grind and Exsanguinate out of the deck. Trying to stick to 2-card combos.

Did some playtesting yesterday and won practically all my games. Lol. The additional draw engines did me a lot of good as well as the acceleration I got from Gilded Lotus.

I'm contemplating on possibly running Phyrexian Metamorph instead of Phantasmal Image .

The metamorph's ability to copy artifacts such as Gilded Lotus helped me win a lot of games. I don't seem to rely much on my Palinchron + Phantasmal Image combo since the Palinchron can go infinite with the right set of lands or Deadeye Navigator .

TheHroth says... #25

The added versatility of Phyrexian Metamorph makes me think it would be better. Worth the extra mana, I think.
