I'd love to goyf this deck out, and get some fetch lands while I'm at it. But I don't exactly have the 8-900 bucks I'd need for all that :)Emissaries might still go in the deck because I get a lightning bolt/Kird ape/goblin guide and rancor or a flinthoof boar out of the deal. Though I am looking to see if I CAN find a serviceable 3-drop with some utility. I was considering Silverblade Paladin for the Kniht of the Reliquary spot.

Unless I'd be better off with a Woolly Thoctar , but I'm trying to avoid vanilla creatures because I'd rather have a variety of uses.

while Silverblade Paladin is great, the double white without fetch lands is a very difficult manabase also, trying to get a knight on turn 3 consistently with 19 lands is not going to be easy and will most likely be a dead card, let alone the ajani at 4 mana. Another thing that is good to add is Experiment One as a one drop, especially when you vomit out your hand, it can be as big as a 3/3 on turn 2 for 1 mana.

I'd recommend running Path to Exile instead of Selesnya Charm , and the sideboard could use some graveyard hate. I would run Scavenging Ooze or Rest in Peace . Mistcutter Hydra and Fiendslayer Paladin are good, but I wouldn't recommend running 4 of each of them, maybe just 2 or 3. Other than that, it's a solid deck. I might borrow a couple ideas for my own.

Thanks! I can't believe I forgot Path when I entered it in here. Maybe I'll board in some Dryad Militant s? Rest in peace is probably pretty essential. Does Ash Zealot run well in modern?

I would suggest Kitchen Finks as a good three drop. It isn't too expensive and can be played by green or white.

Consider Burning-Tree Emissary . I run a gruul zoo,
and she is literally the best thing ever. I understand this is naya, so he(she?) won't be nearly as effective, but definitely still worth a look.
November 30, 2013 9:54 a.m.
I love Emissary a ton, I just have a little too much white for her to be very effective. Still bought another playset because gruul zoo is looking attractive but who knows where I'll end up with this list?
November 30, 2013 10:20 a.m.
arimondry fair enough. I was going to make mine maya zoo as well, but went gruul because of all the new gate crash gruul cards (burning tree, ghost clan rampager, etc) Which are all way more effective in gruul. Also, the mana base is less expensive in two color vs three :)

Also consider Woolly Thoctar . Maybe even over knight of reliquary, because while she can pump herself a lot and the land fixing is great, she can't attack while she's doing that. Wooly is probably already as big as she will ever get, and he's already that big THE TURN HE COMES OUT. It's insane. 5/4 for3? Yes.
November 30, 2013 4:16 p.m.
I've been thinking about running it but I've been trying to avoid it since it's just a vanilla creature. It's an excellent card in its own right, but I'm thinking when I buy the fetch lands I need the knight of the reliquary will suit the deck better.

4x Vengevine and 4x Faithless Looting to make for some ridiculous draws. T1 Faithless Looting pitching one (or two!) Vengevine , T2 Burning-Tree Emissary + Second Creature, Vengevine returns, hit for 4. Even if you aren't pitching Vengevine, you are still smoothing out your draws for one mana. I don't know the cut though; probably 2x Flinthoof Boar , Knight of the Reliquary , and Ghor-Clan Rampager . Also of note, if you have the ~520 bucks for a playset of Tarmogoyf s, T2 Burning-Tree into Goyf is back breaking.

I have a very similar build to this one your welcome to look

Burning-Tree Emissary , Armed / Dangerous and Unflinching Courage I would consider those cards as they are just BADASS. And personally I would drop the fetch lands and canopy for simple forests and mountains. But it's a nice deck, looks a little like my Butt Raping no Lube deck! +1

Bolts and Helixs are in 90 percent of the decks in modern. 3 toughness creatures won't hack it mid to late game. you need a finisher.Mirran Crusader is soo dirty, especially when bloodrushed with Ghor-Clan Rampager . Sarkhan Vol is pretty great too. and lets not forget Domri Rade .

needs Rest in Peace for jund and gifts ungiven, as well as dredge

my personal experience with zoo decks are about having the right lands at the right time. Having a Temple Garden turn 1 and a Qasali Ambusher in hand is always nice. great for defending against the rush decks early game. also Dryad Arbor are great lands for a straight agro deck as well.

Wild Nacatl has been unbanned. You should really run it.
February 3, 2014 1:46 p.m.
No shit I should run it, man!But I do just want to give a big middle finger to all the people that waited until now to build a Naya Zoo deck.It runs AWESOMELY even without it!It's going in for sure.
February 4, 2014 12:23 a.m.
how about Qasali Pridemage
turn 2: 4 damage with the cat, plus you don't have to SB artifact / enchantment removal anymore and give yourself two more slots in your SB.
February 5, 2014 4:34 a.m.
I will definitely consider it. Before Nacatl was unbanned, I was running Flinthoof Boar as my 2-drop slot, and it's hard enough with 17 lands to support a 2-drop lol. The double symbols might throw me for a loop too. The Pridemage is a really solid card no doubt, and is seeing play in like all the zoo lists anyways.

i think you should lower the curve by removing Knight of the Reliquary and Ajani Vengeant and replacing them with Tarmogoyf , if that is too expensive(it is for most of us) and Burning-Tree Emissary . Tarmogoyf is one of the most undercosted threats in the format and burning tree leads to even more powerful draws where your opponent just loses. Other than that i like what you have. Good luck with the deck.
