notKingCole, thanks for the suggestion. I planned not to use any Theros Block cards since they are rotating out soon, but I really like that card so I just might run it in the sideboard in the meantime.

Why is the Inspiring Call not mainboarded, its sooo good!!!

Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit is an amazing card... she should also be played.

The problem with Anafenza is she is legendary and she costs 2 white mana so you have to have 2 white to be able to play her which might not happen as early as you want.

Being Legendary has never been a problem. Abzan Aggro run 4 Anafenza Foremost without as second thought.

The thing you must consider about her is this:

  • You ALWAYS want her down to net you counters.
  • Shes good in every moment of the game.
  • People will remover her frequently, so you better have spares.
  • Even if you already have another one down, the second one ETB will trigger the 1st ability before the sacrifice, getting a counter on something.
  • The double WW cost is no problem, since dropping her on later turns is still a power play that require answers.

If you need something every game, all game long, use 4 of them. Sometimes being Legendary means nothing.

jsansoldo I'll 1/2 agree with you. But, when playing multiple Avatar of the Resolute as one of your bombs having double green AND double white hurts from my play testing.

syandell86 I have a deck similar to this one in which I run Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit and Avatar of the Resolute together, and I have had VERY good results with them both. In a dual color deck in which you have some dual color lands, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting two of each color mana. darleen is only running Windswept Heath due to speed, so I understand why you may not want to run them both in this deck, but I don't think it's a bad idea for all decks :)

My deck if you're interested

Looking for one thing darleen. Have you tried Den Protector?

I second syandell86 on Den Protector. Killer card!

This is brutal against decks lacking removal. How does it fare against Control?

I see this deck struggling against control until game two, as you can board in Feat of Resistance against them.

syandell86 and syandell86, I agree Den Protector is a great card and with Megamorph it fits into the Counters meta of this deck, however, it is an expensive card that I can't invest in at the moment.

alex105008 this deck does struggle against control. That's why I went up to 26 creatures to help offset my opponents' creature removal.

Thanks for posting this! I'm going to try it, card-for-card, at my Thursday Standard tournament tonight.

One-mana protection spells can help the control matchup. It lets you cast creatures more aggressively while still having insurance against removal so they hit more reliably. As a green player, I love Ranger's Guile, but white has Ajani's Presence.

jubale thanks for the suggestions. However, since those cards are from Theros, which is rotating out in a couple weeks, I'd rather not add them to the deck. I think Feat of Resistance is the closest alternative, unless you can think of another card not from Theros.

thechusenone, thanks for the comment. I am curious to know how you did at your Standard Tournament with this deck and what type of decks you played against.

Jdvanliew thanks for the comment. I agree that Hardened Scales is an essential card in this deck. I started with a playset main board, but I put two copies in the sideboard to make room for Collected Company. After playtesting, I still can't decide which card is more advantageous for this deck.

darleen you have a number of Hangarback Walker's that is greater than 0. Don't run Collected Company.

syandell86, Jdvanliew, thanks for the input. I agree with you, a playset of Hardened Scales is better than Collected Company.
