This is a sea monster deck. I love how flavorful tribal decks are, but unfortunately they are often a bit one-dimensional (especially in mono-color). I like that Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle is super interesting and fun. In fact, it's become one of my favorite Magic cards of all time. I love the flavor, the power level, the design; it's just a really cool Magic card. Adding a splash of green for ramp really helps get around the high mana-cost problem with sea monsters too. There's actually a surprising amount of green cards that align quite nicely with the sea creature theme too such as: Tropical Island, Birds of Paradise, Exploration, Kiora, the Crashing Wave, Simic Signet, Yavimaya Coast, Tatyova, Benthic Druid, etc.
