Ooh I like what that Tome Scour did to my curve. Looks like it'll be even faster now.

I think your deck is the best competitor of mine (Best Modern Mill: Jace's Grinding Machine), in terms of best mill! I have seen many great milling decks but I think I have most beat. Yours however, is a damn close call :P

My only suggestions are...
~Your sideboard could use cards that will give you an edge against decks that our type of deck is weak to.

~IMO, Lazav isn't a very good pick for our sort of decks because he is too slow. He is a 4 cost and he only copies when a card is put into the graveyard, so he likely won't be useful until turn 5, which is usually our time to tap-out for Aberration or Jace as well as by then we should have milled most of the opponents cards... I believe Consuming Aberration , Nemesis of Reason & Jace, Memory Adept are much safer picks. With them you are guaranteed to have what you want instead of hoping that from turn 5+ you might mill something you can use. Though I will mention I love the card, as well as Circu, Dimir Lobotomist , Szadek, Lord of Secrets & Geth, Lord of the Vault !

+1! Great deck!

Ooh, I'm liking Circu, Dimir Lobotomist ... And you have a point about Lazav, Dimir Mastermind .. I'm thinking a replacement might be in order...

The only one i really liked was the Strionic Resonator ... But I can't really find a place for it... But looking at your deck, I've gotta say, I like what you're doing with those fetch lands... Thins the deck, making it easier to find my powerful cards.. And turns my handy Hedron Crab into a god!

November 4, 2013 10:41 a.m.

Im waiting to have 3 crabs, 3 fetches and an island for my opening hand... > insert evil laughter <

Yeah, at first I was worrying, cuz I didn't want to hurt my mana increase... meaning... Sacing the fetch lands, would mean the longer the game went the less odds of pulling lands I had... Then I realized that with the speed of the deck and it's low cost, I don't really need them & like you said, it increases the chances of pulling action cards :D

Or 3 crabs, 2 fetchs, an island & a Jace, I suppose would be the best case.

Now with Surgical Extraction ! Why? Because It's insanely powerful in a mill deck, that's why.

What do you think guys? Should I throw in some Visions of Beyond ? The deck is amazing as it is, but a cheap three card draw is never a bad thing.

Surgical Extraction is hard to play right. You really need at least an Inquisition of Kozilek to make it work at its fullest potential.

Im not sure I see the connection between these two cards, elaborate please

Turn 1 drop a Swamp , play Inquisition of Kozilek and see opponent's hand. Choose a card, discard.Turn 2 drop an Island , play Breaking (or Glimpse the Unthinkable if you can afford a set) and mill stuff. Then pay 2 life and Surgical Extraction something in their graveyard that they have copies of in their deck (best choice would be a win con or a card that would cause you problems immediately, like burn spells).

okay, you've got a good point there... hmm

You want to deny them easy/quick spells, so pick something that they have in their hand (ideally something they can't get out with 1 mana, like a Mana Leak ).

Does Mindcrank and Duskmantle Guildmage stack??

iamacasual says... #17

Yes, it's an infinite combo. However, not a viable one as it is simply too slow for the format.

That's why I have only a couple copies. It's a nice boon if I pull it off. But individually both cards are still very helpful in this deck. It has the combo but in no way relies on it.

Why aren't running the 2 most efficient mill spells then: Archive Trap and Glimpse the Unthinkable ?

Because I'm poor. But I have been rethinking Archive Trap I just don't know where I'd put it

I think this is more what you'd want to be pushing for in this deck.

I like my version so far.. Seems pretty powerful good synergy.. What, in particular do you think needs improvement?
