This deck is built around a fast aggro theme with a twist; steal their creatures. This is of course, so much better than simple removal, because that means you get to play with their Thragtusk,
Centaur Healer
, ect.
The idea to permanently keep their creatures instead of giving them back is to use abilities like
Traitorous Blood
, Zealous Conscripts, or
Mark of Mutiny
, targeting their creatures, and then use Cloudshift or
Restoration Angel
to blink their creature, making it permanently yours. This is especially nasty when you do this to their Thragtusk, and come out of the deal 5 life and 2 creatures richer (or better if you used Zealous Conscripts, or
Restoration Angel
to make this combo happen).....(imagine: they do a horrible boardwipe ridding the field of your 2 ash zealots and a stromkirk noble, that was wrecking their shit....you've got nothing on the board, and they have a Thragtusk...your turn play a Zealous Conscripts on their Thragtusk...you now have 2 creatures you can attack with. flash in
Restoration Angel
targeting the Thragtusk that is only temporarily yours....it now comes back under your control, as did his little 3/3 beast friend...and you just gained 5 life. Of course make sure you flash her in after the combat phase but before you pass turn....now you have two creatures tapped, and two left to block....I like how this sounds... =) I used to be all about the Zealous Conscripts combo with
Falkenrath Aristocrat
but I think I'd rather keep their creature permanently then kill it....now...if only you could do this to hexproof creatures!
Of course, the Cavern of Souls are in to help protect you from control decks, and lots of 1 and 2 drops to hold up against the mindless RDW-robot.
The Sideboard has
Thundermaw Hellkite
to help you with fliers, Rest in Peace to stop the scavenge decks, Deathrite Shaman, and reanimators, Bonfire of the Damned for some good board wiping, Nevermore to wreck deck synergy,
Pillar of Flame
for extra burn, Witchbane Orb to help you against milling and other spells targeting you, and Pithing Needle for planeswalker hate.
