This aggro budget deck depends on versatility of individual weenie threats that disrupts enemy combos from taking into effect. All creatures in this deck are expendable. Like most aggro decks, this deck only cares about constant flow of damage. This deck however, adds first-strike creatures which forces opponent to sacrifice a creatures or lose enough life that he or she will regret.

Triple-Threat

This scenario assumes either Consul's Lieutenant or Precinct Captain is on board already. There are three strategies playable on turn two.

  1. Aggro-Offensive: If the opponent decides to take the damage, both 2 drop first-strike creatures will either (Consul's Lieutenant) gain renown and giving 1+/1+ on attacking creatures or (Precinct Captain) summon a 1/1 soldier token. These creatures should generate enough threat that the opponent will either go on the defensive or offensive.

  2. Control: Employ this strategy if opponent uses a more aggressive deck than you. To completely deny opponent from attempting to regain board, use Silence turn 3 or + on opponent and drop Grand Abolisher. Try to at least have one counter spell creature in play.

  3. *Semi-Offensive: Use Judge's Familiar or Frontline Medic to counter target creature, instant, and sorcery spell or force enemy to preserve one mana in early stages of the game.

Turn Breakdown

T1: Champion of the Parish or Kytheon, Hero of Akros   (use planeswalker ability to protect key creatures or attack as a 4/4 creature).

T2: Consul's Lieutenant, Precinct Captain (summon soldier tokens until Honor of the Pure's 1/1 buff or Mikaeus, the Lunarch's 1/1 counters come into play), or Mikeaus, the Lunarch (sacrifice it to buff 1+/1+ on turn 3).

Since both Consul's Lieutenant and Precinct Captain have first strike ability, the opponent must choose which is more threatening to him or her. Either way, you benefit.

T3: Mikeaus, the Lunarch (slow, but gives all creatures flying if you play Abzan Falconer), Grand Abolisher (depending on colour of opponent), or Honor of the Pure (depending on threat level of enemy creatures).

Again, this deck is all about adapting to circumstances.

T4: Abzan Falconer (make all your weenies fly), or Frontline Medic (indestructible weenies and counter spell)

In case things don't turn out properly on turn 4, Frontline Medic is the runner-up for a budget deck like this because if for some reason you can't or haven't played Abzan Falconer or Grand Abolisher before, you always have Frontline Medic protecting your weenies if you decide to rush the opponent or countering target spell.

Deck Breakdown:

All you need to do is buy enough time until Abzan Falconer gives all weenies flying ability. However, there are three issues about this deck:

  1. Red Aggro - Legion Loyalist and Goblin Piledriver may end the game before the combo comes into play. In this case, replace Brave the Elements for Holy Day.

  2. Board-Wipe - Cards like Wrath of God, Languish, Anger of the Gods, and AEtherspouts are another issue you must address. Fortunately, this is where Grand Abolisher, Judge's Familiar, Frontline Medic, Brave the Elements, or Silence shields you from enemy spells and abilities. In your turn, without spell and ability interruptions, you bypass most threats aside from creatures on board. In this case, use Path to Exile to bypass it or exile a token creature for an extra land.

  3. Enemy Phase - Although Grand Abolisher cannot protect your weenies from removals nor exiles, spells such as Path to Exile, Silence, and Brave the Elements should buy enough time until your weenies acquire flying ability.

Generally speaking, Abzan Falconer is a finisher and is rarely used because you probably finish the opponent before it comes in play.

Possible Replacements

A. Counter-Orientated: Replace 3x Kytheon, Hero of Akros   or 3x Champion of the Parish for 3x Thalia's Lieutenant. This will almost assure all creatures under your control with (Abzan Falconer) flying ability.

B. Aggro: Replace 3x Judge's Familiar for 3x Thalia's Lieutenant. Replace 4x Champion of the Parish for 1x Consul's Lieutenant, 1x Path to Exile, 1x Kytheon, Hero of Akros  , and 1x Ajani, Caller of the Pride.

Odric, Master Tactician.
