Artifacts: Quantity over Quality

There are a lot of excellent artifacts out there that make an impact all by themselves. They show up in a lot of different decks, because of how useful they are. This isn't one of those decks.

This Akiri, Line-Slinger + Silas Renn, Seeker Adept deck is based around making a whole bunch of artifact tokens that maybe aren't so great in a vacuum, but in this deck every single artifact matters. This is a factory, and we're gonna pump out servos and thopters and treasures until our opponents are overwhelmed by metal.

We can swing out with an army of buffed up automatons, we can send a truly massive Akiri in to kill with commander damage, we can blow some people out with some surprising damage sources, or we can win with some alternate win conditions that favor our game plan. We got options, and all of them are good.

Here's how we get it done

First and foremost, we need to churn out some artifact tokens. Treasures, servos and thopters are our primary focus, but there's a few other different flavors we can generate.

Can't have an oppressive manufacturing based economy with only one factory. We need to use our artifacts to make more artifacts, and for cheaper. It's like investments, only slightly more violent

  • Inspiring Statuary: Turns our little machines into a weird kind of mana dork
  • Blinkmoth Urn: Nobody is getting more mana out of this than us
  • Etherium Sculptor: A large portion of this deck is artifacts, so making artifacts cheaper is a no brainer
Even in large quantities, thopters and servos just aren't very threatening. We need to ways to take advantage of our machines, either by buffing them or by getting power out of having so many at once. Akiri already get's pretty big because of our output, but we can do more.

We're pretty good at combat, with our robot army, but we don't need to win only by bringing our opponents life total down. We can win pretty passively with some alternate win conditions

  • Mechanized Production: Provides additional tokens, and servos and thopters count. We can get 8 of those no problem. Or we can enchant one of our artifact lands (like the indestructible bridges) to get a weird kind of ramp
  • Revel in Riches: Another source of treasures, and an alternate win condition that cares about them
  • Mirrodin Besieged: More of an alternate kill condition, we can either generate more tokens or we can generate card advantage and maybe drop someone.
The inspiration for the deck falls in this category. We can use the number of artifacts as a surprising burn threat from a few different sources, adding some additional damage pressure

  • Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge: MTGA's effect for his +2 is what made me make this deck. Drain people out pretty effectively with the claw
  • Fathom Fleet Swordjack: Blasts when it attacks. The encore can do some real work
  • Pia's Revolution: It doesn't count tokens, but we can force our opponents to make some tough choices that soften them up. And even if they take the damage, Silas can bring the artifact back anyway.
