NuBByThuMB: In testing, the deck has been able to win fairly consistently on turn 6, so I'm not sure it would take all that much to bump it down to a T5 win. Unfortunately, most of your suggestions are beyond my price range. If I had infinite money, I'd cut a lot of my creatures throw in 4 Phyrexian Obliterator , 2 AEtherling and 2-3 more planeswalkers. But I don't. 450 buck decks are beyond me, at the moment.
I'm not too concerned about trying to get someone to deck out, as the deck is more Consuming Aberration focused.
However, Ghost Quarter and Archive Trap sound like an amazing combo, I'll see about throwing 2 Ghost Quarter and some archive trap in.
In terms of Jace's Phantasm : What would you suggest I take out? I've found Sigiled Starfish to be integral to increasing my deck speed.

Nighthowler Isn't exactly an integral piece of the puzzle. Sure, he's a really big dude when you're on a roll. But I feel like having a consistent 5/5 flier for cheaper is much more effecitve than a creature whose power and toughness are undetermined and can sometimes be downright useless.

NuBByThuMB: Actually, in playtesting, Nighthowler did feel like a rather dead card if drawn early, or if I was unlucky with the mills. I will play-test the deck with your suggestion, thank you. Perhaps if you have a moment, you could take a peek at another deck of mine? I could really use some help on it. Selesnya Knights Thanks!

add some Temple of Deceit to help with deck speed. try out Traumatize because that + Consuming Aberration = an unstoppable beast that can win you the game fast. overall the deck looks great

jbnet211: I've thought about traumatize, and I have a few problems with it- I don't really like how slow it is, mostly, and if I do get it out, then it kinda renders the rest of the mill bombs moot, as milling the opponent for 20+ with one card is all I really need to do to get Consuming Aberration to where it needs to be. It just seems like a 'win more' card, in the sense that if I'm winning, it'll keep me winning, but it won't help me much if I'm losing or don't have the mana. In terms of 5-drops, I'd much rather draw another consuming abberation, or jace.

How about adding cards with the cipher ability? If you attach for example Hands of Binding to Consuming Aberration while using Aqueous Form or an Artful Dodge , that would be pretty dangerous!

mkiyechad: The original version of this deck actually had a lot of ciphers in it, but I found that they slowed the deck down too much for the benefits they gave. With this deck, by turn 6 it is fairly easy to get Consuming Aberration to at least a 20/20, although the upper twenties is far more likely. With that, and Aqueous Form , the game should be over. Abberation is there not to be a big beater, but to deliver the finishing blow. As such, ciphers for it's sake aren't really warranted. That's my thinking, at least.

Ah I see. It's always cool how things work out. Looks like a very fun deck!

mkiyechad: Thanks for stopping bye! =)
I personally love Ciphers: Hidden Strings is a personal favorite of mine. I have a few decks that use them, but I just couldn't find a place for them in this deck, unfortunately.

Has anyone suggested Creeping Tar Pit yet? Man lands are always awesome, and can act as a secondary win condition. The unblockable also works sooper well with that disgusting Sword.

JexInfinite: oh man, I haven't taken a look at this deck in -ages.- It's nice to see that people are looking at it. That's a great suggestion- let me add it, and clean up a few card choices as well.

Polluted Delta is currently in heavy print. I would pick up a playset now before they get any more expensive.

NuBByThuMB: Heh, I really need to update this deck x3
Don't worry, I've gotten a full playset of Delta- I may get a second one before rotation, too. I'm actually looking for foiled deltas at the moment, as I have 2 and need to complete the set. If you have one, lemme know. I have other foiled fetches as well that I'd be willing to trade up with :3

I've got a playset of foil Deltas, myself. And I can't imagine I'll be getting rid of them any time soon. I haven't been on here in quite some time, so my whole profile needs updating, decks, binder and all. Does Glimpse the Unthinkable seem a little more accessible today than they had 7 months ago? Because I still retain that this deck is almost non-functional without them :P

NuBByThuMB: Nice. I don't blame you for holding onto them if you already have a full set. I have one of each ktk fetch foiled, and 2 deltas, and I just wish people would be willing to convert my non-deltas into deltas...
Glimpse the Unthinkable is doable now, yeah x3
I actually haven't looked at this build in ages, and have moved onto other things. My main deck atm is A Little Lesson In Recursion Theory which I have almost completely papered out. Since I have a set of Snapcaster Mage, if I made a mill deck I'd probably just go the typical creature-light mill deck than the one above.

Since Archive Trap is better in every way that Traumatize (even when hard casting it) you don't really need to think about adding Traumatize (I know its only in the maybeboard). An example scenario could be:
Turn 1: Land, Hedron CrabTurn 2: Land, Glimpse the UnthinkableTurn 3: Land, Mind FuneralAt this point they have drawn at least 2 cards, along with the original 7 from their beginning hand. Hedron Crab has milled 6, Glimpse the Unthinkable 10, and lets say Mind Funeral milled for 8 (low estimate in my opinion) which totals at 33 cards milled turn 3 even if you did nothing turn 4, on turn 5 if you played a land each turn you would have milled about 40 cards which means Traumatize hits for 10 Archive Trap for 13.
An alternative that could work, though would be quite dependent on the game could Psychic Spiral, but that usually works best in a more control oriented build with many cards thrown in the graveyard.

Jace's Phantasm is here way better than Bloodchief Ascension, since you've got not that many ways of getting those three counters (I playtested the deck, and it didn't happen a single time). It's even more interesting since thanks to the trap, you can easily have a 5/5 flyer by the first or the second turn. It would be a great alternate win condition (even if, looking at your update list you stopped playing it like seven months ago :p).

Another damn mill deck. GAH
Mind Funeral is a card. It basically DESTROYS Goblin Charbelcher 1-land decks. Oboro, Palace in the Clouds because Crabbies. Stellar build either way, though. Splashing white for PtE was a good choice.

If you're trying to make this competitive in modern, you're not going to functiopn without Glimpses or Combos. Modern is a turn 5 format. It's fast and you have to be as fast. There should be at least a single main board Extirpate effect. Be it Pate itself or Surgical Extraction . You need to be able to have an answer to Eldrazi in the main board game one.
Playing Archive Trap in the main is much more plausible when you hit your opponent with Ghost Quarter . If the traps aren't main, they definitely shouldn't be in the board.
Go for the Throat is a billion times more effective that Doom Blade . And in this case, you wanna be playing Liliana of the Veil anyways.
What about Visions of Beyond and Jace's Phantasm ? These guys are amazing.
Not to sound like an ass, but I would abandon this deck idea if you can't afford Glimpse the Unthinkable s and Breaking s. Those cards are absolutely VITAL to mill in modern.
