Hello. This is my first official deck for this site, as well as my first official Standard deck with the Shadows Over Innistrad expansion out. This is a very unforgiving mill deck that relies on Investigating and Sacrificing those clues. There are lots of things to help keep your opponents minions from attacking, or to help you minions get buffed and indestructible.
The end game here is to mill out your opponent as fast as you can and hope. There are some cards in here that may seem like a strange choice, for example, the 5 mana counter spell, Confirm Suspicions. The reasoning behind this is when you have Fleeting Memories and Tamiyo's Journal on the field. You would counter said spell, then can immediately sacrifice those clues and tap Tamiyo's Journal, that way your opponent would have to mill 9(or more, depending on how many Fleeting Memories are out) and you get to search for a card, in this case Startled Awake, which mills your opponent 13. The Sphinx's Tutelage comes in handy when you are drawing all these cards from sacrificing the Clues and can also be an end game. There is a lot here to make your opponent mill and (hopefully) keep you alive until they mill out.
I would say that this deck would have trouble against really fast paced decks, which is why I included Engulf the Shore. If you have enough Islands, you can make all creatures with toughness equal to or less than your Islands. It also gives you a way to replay some minions to either Investigate/mill your opponent again.
Pieces of the puzzle could be good or bad. It is mostly to try get Delirium for Manic Scribe, but I wouldn't use it that much.
Chaplain's Blessing is again to help the Delirium effect get faster. You can either discard it or play it for the 5 health.
Pore over the pages and catalog are nice for when you have Sphinx's Tutelage out, or when needing to get more cards. Pore Over the Pages is also nice because you can untap two lands, which is perfect for Expose Evil. Catalog also helps with getting Delirium faster.
Jace is here mostly for Sphinx's Tutelage, but also to help get to your milling cards faster.
Lots of combos in this deck that, if they work, are very satisfying.
I hope you guys enjoy this deck and look out for more of my decks in the future.
XD
TLDR; Mill them. and mill them again. and again. Win.
