Welcome and thank you for Taking a look at my 1st draft for my Atarka Landfall Brew!
The Idea is straight forward, Drop a land into play to make all you creatures bigger and Swing for the win!Let me go forward and let you know my thoughts on what I chose:
Creatures
Scythe Leopard: A great 1 drop that starts with an actual power unlike its predecessor Steppe Lynx which is still in debate which is better.
Snapping Gnarlid: This is going to be your average Alpha Bear simply because it is a 2/2 for 2 that gets stronger just by dropping land in.
Valakut Predator: This guy is a little bit beefier because he gets +2/+2 instead of the +1/+1 the rest get so he can be a bit of a threat to an opponent when you decide to do combat tricks.
Makindi Sliderunner: I Like this one a lot, it has trample, gets +2/+2, and is a 2/1 meaning that your average combat trick gets him out of most average burn spells in standard at the moment.
Tunneling Geopede: This is one is Different, unlike the others he doesnt get pumped when you activate landfall instead he pings your opponents for 1 damage now it might not sound like a lot but when you are dropping those lands in like crazy the damage racks up.
Grove Rumbler: This guy is a great mid-gamer, hes already a trampling 3/3 and gets +2/+2 from a single landfall trigger.
Omanth, Locus of Rage: He is the Finisher if they arent dead already when you draw him. Play him and drop loads of lands when possible and watch as your opponent scoop.
Other Spells
Retreat to Kazandu: This is where you get to begin the rise to have the upper hand, when you drop a land you can either gain 2 life or put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. On turns where you drop 3 or more lands and youre dealing with another agro deck and its toe to toe Id say go ahead and gain the life. Chances are they cant deal enough damage then to actually win.
Nissas Pilgramage: I like this one over the instant version because it sends one to the battle field and the other to the hand so when you use a command you have one to drop in and keep pumping your creatures even further.
Nissas Renewal: Now this is a bit of a power house in this deck, in theory your dropping 4 lands this turn and your creatures at least get +4/+4 and maybe even ping for 4.
Atarkas Command: Do I have to explain? Well to be honest you might get more damage from dropping a land and pumping with it but its always so situational.
Land
Wooded Foothills: double landfall is pretty good.
Blighted woodlands: mid-late game double land drops arent bad.
SideBoard
The sideboard is straight forward I think. I just copied what I had for my RDW and added some enchantment and land removal.
