After pro-tour Magic origins I'm feeling a lot better about this deck... I really liked most of Stephen Neil's list, so mine is 58 of his 60 being identical although I did not like his sideboard, so mine is my own.

I feel like the forest and rugged highlands aren't needed in here the fetches should suffice but I definitely recommend taking out the lifeland

Yea, I'm actually just dropping green :P without mana Mana Confluence and running so many double red cards and with Magmatic Insight, it's just bad.

na I wouldnt drop green since you only have 4 green mana just have the fetches and a few forests and you should be fine also Atarka's Command is well worth it for the burn and ramp

Atarka's Command is amazing. I run it in my modern burn and I ran it for months in atarka red, but I feel it isn't worth running in a deck that has no Dragon Fodder or Hordeling Outburst. And adding this is completely changing the deck. I spent a good amount of yesterday playtesting with green and I'm just not as big of a fan of it with this shell. I might go back to playing atarka red, only time will tell, but in this she'll, Atarka's Command doesn't fit in well.

What about Thunderbreak Regent to top the curve? I also don't like the land discarding spells when your only at 20

How about a couple Avaricious Dragon? They will help out late game when you have no cards in hand and you're curve is low so discarding your cards shouldn't be a problem.

@Oshi_with_an_O- I used to have Thunderbreak Regent in, but the issue with the two dragons (it and Avaricious Dragon is that they force you into a midrange grind, which is a domain that red can't win in. Red is good for being aggressive, but when it comes down to grinding out a victory, they have little hope. I'd run the two in a R/G deck that can ramp into them for t3, but they stall the game too much for mono-red.

As for Magmatic Insight, with a low curve and usually only ever needing 3 lands out, discarding a 4th for extra value has proved to be super good. Also, similarly to Gitaxian Probe, it can allow you to keep some really risky hands since it replaces two of the cards in it.

@Havok.Bane- As previously stated, I feel as if the dragons force you into a midrange game where red has a very hard time winning. In a R/G build that can ramp into them, they're really good, but not as much when they force red to play slower. I was super pumped about it at first, but testing has proved it to be underwhelming.

If you run into a late-game land problem, you might consider putting Aggressive Mining + Molten Vortex into your sideboard. Use Aggressive Mining for draw, and then discard the lands you cant play with Molten Vortex.

That's actually not a bad idea... Once I got 5 lands, I could cast that and shut down so many decks... Control looses to resolving that in turn 4. Especially if I'm on the play. I should put that in...

There are no Forests or Swamps so the fetch lands are completely unnecessary.

Oops, deck used to be atarka red with black in the SB, need to edit that. It does kinda thin the deck out though :P

I think you should go 2 Anger in the side, with the 4th copy of Searing Blood instead of the 3rd Anger. I think in the matches Searing Blood is good, you'll want 4.

I think you're right. I'm actually considering 2 in the main and 2 in the side instead though. It's just a dead card against control. Although- you can target your swiftspear with it for extra damage with prowess. But it's still bad against control. I want to drop Magma Spray for the last 2 in the side. Thought? Magma spray serves the same function as anger technically, shutting down megamorph decks.
