Every other Atemsis I've seen has been either Voltron (nearly creatureless) or Sphinx-tribal. This is an attempt to avoid both of those pitfalls and build for a 3-4 person multiplayer format at a medium power level, while retaining the Sphinxlike theme (a few sphinxes, owls, "prophecy" top-deck manipulation, telepathy and so on.) This deck incorporates "pillow-fort" (Discouraging being targeted) with politics and the blue staple control. The goal, of course, is to build up a board state without seeming like too big a threat. I also wanted as much player interactivity as possible for maximum fun without just stacking the deck with goodstuff. As a medium power deck, it does not include any infinites (that I can see) but does have solid synergies.

Combos:

  1. Pay 1, draw card: Sensei's Divining Top + Future Sight/Magus of the Future
  2. Tuck n Mill: Tunnel Vision + Hinder/Vendilion Clique/Spin Into Myth/Conundrum Sphinx

Other Notes:

  1. Use a bounce in response to Atemsis' damage trigger to fill hand with appropriate CMCs.
  2. Big CMCs that cost much less: Commit (to) Memory = CMC 7, Dig through Time & Treasure Cruise = CMC 8.

There are about 45 cards that I really wanted to include which did not make the cut. Most are alternative draws, bounces, counterspells, mana rocks, pillows and politics. They were cut for synergy reasons or because I needed to curve the mana (many are 3cmc and 5cmc, very few 4cmcs to choose from.) The deck was originally designed as higher-powered infinite mana -> draw entire deck -> win through Stroke of Genius/Blue Sun Zenith, but I decided to keep this deck at medium as one of my backups since I already own other high powered decks.
