Athreos, God of Passage heads up an army of Shadowborn Apostle s, going through an endless cycle of summoning demons, being revived, and summoning again. At its' heart this is a deck that abuses the fact that you have 29 of the same creature and all of the shenanigans that that allows!

It's safe to say that this is not a tier 1 deck given that there are EXTREMELY minimal pieces of interaction as well as the fact that your topdecks are shocking if your game plan goes to hell. That being said it is one of the most fun decks I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

Your main game plan is to win fair. Get 6 Apostles, go and find either Razaketh, the Foulblooded if you've extra fodder for him, or Rune-Scarred Demon if you don't. Find a Living Death or one of your many reanimation spells and go again. Eventually you will be able to keep the board eternally clear with Grave Pact effects, win through combat with a Coat of Arms , or drain your opponents out with one of your many Blood Artist effects.

This may also be one of the best Skullclamp decks that I've ever played as you're basically guaranteed a target. Tutoring the clamp is the only reason that I play Stoneforge Mystic , which will eventually become an Enlightened Tutor once I have the money to grab one in foil.

There is TECHNICALLY an infinite combo in the deck, but it does require either a willing opponent or an opponent who is on less than 3 life and therefore unable to pay the Athreos tax. The combo goes as such:

Have a Shadowborn Apostle , a Phyrexian Altar and Athreos in play. With this setup and the previously mentioned opponent, you are able to continue looping the Apostle from the battlefield, to the graveyard, to the hand and back to the field. Throw in a Blood Artist and you have a dead table, add an Edgewalker and you have infinite black mana to spend on...something. Lastly you can exile each opponent's library with Bitter Ordeal as you have just generated a Gravestorm count equal to whichever arbitrarily large number you prefer. I never said it was good, I just said it existed!

Most of the rest of the inclusions are pretty straightforward, but if you're looking for a deck that is innocuous in the opening portion of the game and essentially unstoppable in the late, whilst still being an absolute blast to play, you've come to the right place!
