Plus, every time you get an Angel on the field or populate one, you gain 4 life with Trostani, which means another Angel :DBut wouldn't someone like Phantom General work better to pump than Ethereal Armor ?

I suppose, but the Ethereal Armor is more for Liliana's Reaver and Thrill-Kill Assassin than it is for the tokens, I mean what's deadlier than something that can kill your creatures before they kill you? Haha

Tenacious Dead is a good sac outlet for the cauldron. It feels kinda weird to see the Bogbrew Witch and Cauldron without any Festering Newt s.

Another cool thing could be using Sanguine Bond with all the life gain, or Trading Post as an additional way to gain life. It also can create tokens to sac into the Cauldron.

haha DarkoHazSwag i probably should have mentioned that im trying to keep in post rotation standard. but yeah it is funny to run both the witch and the cauldron without the newt, but both are essential in making those zombie tokens.

All those cards are standard legal, Trading Post and Sanguine Bond are both reprinted in M14.
But what about Phantom General ?

Also I was wondering if you could look at my B/W Enchantments deck and tell me what you think?

Fal1entrixt3r says... #6

Haha I didn't even realize they were reprinted.

You have an interesting idea here, but there are quite a few moving pieces that need to be in play for it to work effectively. The creature sac, industructability, lifegain and regeneration effects with Strionic Resonator on top of it can get convoluted sometimes. I would try to focus it down. The other problem is that the mechanics are expensive and you only have 18 lands. I think that you need like 22 or 23 to make this work.

I really like it. I've been thinking about making a W/U/B deck just to see what happens, so I'll probably use this as a reference! :3 +1

I think you might be going a little too heavy in the mid to late game play. Swan Song is a nice enough card but you have less than a 1 in 8 chance of seeing one in your opening hand. There are some really good 1 CMC cards in standard right now. You might think about dropping Thrill-Kill Assassin and throwing in Festering Newt . The combo it has with Bubbling Cauldron is really nice and it's a good turn 1 or even turn 2 blocker because of the -1/-1 effect.

ASPdecks thanks for the suggestion, Thrill-Kill Assassin was a good deathtouch in the first draft, I forgot about Agent of the Fates deathtouch.

And thanks DimirQueen! You should check out my Grixis mill deck, Library killer :)

sorry to tell you but Athreos doesn't synergize with Xathrid Necromancer because tokens can't go to your hand therefore there is no benefit for them to pay the 3 life

Fal1entrixt3r says... #12

Gaffa I realize that, he synergizes well with him because of the Humans. If I sac a human, or one gets killed and both of them are on the field, I get a token and the chance of it coming back to my hand

Don't like all this draw bullshit. Use stuff like Thoughtseize instead. Or, even better, use a combo like Sage of Hours +Obzedat, Ghost Council +Sunbond +Whip of Erebos . Then you can gain life and turns in a infinite combo instead of waiting to draw cards. And, Sage of Hours is a human!

Just a heads up Gift of Orzhova only contributes 2 devotion. He contributes either white or black devotion. Here's an article to reference.

I also feel like you need to have more than 18 creatures in the deck to make use of Athreos, God of Passage effectively.

I like the idea of Soul Ransom . I feel like you'd have to wait until turn 5 to capitalize off of your combo, and even then you'd have to sacrifice a total of 7 mana for a removal and a draw spell between playing the artifact, using the artifact, then playing Soul Ransom ... more mana spent for a Read the Bones /Divination and Hero's Downfall or Doom Blade /Ultimate Price combo.

Notion Thief I feel isn't a good card to main. While the flash does grant you a nice bit of utility, this is a four-drop that could be used for a Desecration Demon or Soldier of the Pantheon if you want to add a bit of aggro twist. Pain Seer is another good option to give card advantage if you keep the CMC low.

Good luck!

Ahhhh, I wasn't sure about that, everyone I play with, whether at FNM or casually never seem to know. Thanks IraFenix for all the suggestions, and the info on the rule. And yeah Notion Thief isn't that good, it was just an idea. After playtesting a bit, it is a slow way to add card draw

+1 Looks pretty good!
A comment about the land base:

4x Mana Confluence can be rough.
Only 20x Land can be rough.
0x Basic Land can be rough.

But maybe this works because of all the scry and lifegain.
Do you find this land base works for the deck,
or does it shock you too much or slow you down?

May 9, 2014 11:04 p.m.

Sach_squatch says... #17

I'd have to agree with musselhead, You should have atleast 4-6 basic lands in this deck, (2-3 of each color in this deck) The shock on the lands you have now might be a bit much and I'm not sure if you can sacrifice speed for that in a deck like this.

May 9, 2014 11:15 p.m.

Sach_squatch says... #18

I'd also be willing to bet that when playing this you'll go at least 1 hand a night with out getting a proper mana base with only 20 land and all.. Maybe consider adding 2 more basic land?

May 9, 2014 11:19 p.m.

Fal1entrixt3r says... #19

musselhead and Sach_squatch I actually haven't played around with the land base too much yet, right now it's actually not too bad, but I agree some basic lands would speed it up a bit. It does limit the amount of plays early on

May 9, 2014 11:22 p.m.

Sach_squatch says... #20

I wouldn't take out too many multi lands though you need those when you're playing Tri-Color

May 9, 2014 11:24 p.m.

Fal1entrixt3r says... #21

There, it should be a little more consistent now :)

The deck seems kind of off, you want something to dump creatures in the bin for immortal servitude, otherwise you should just take it out.

You realize it's just on in the sideboard right?

I love esper and orzhov and Athreos, God of Passage is by far my favorite Theros god. So there's a +1 right off the bat.

Sideboard ideas/ suggestions: Dark Betrayal , Blind Obedience , Tidebinder Mage , Sin Collector (human), Blood Baron of Vizkopa , Duress , Lifebane Zombie , Nyx-Fleece Ram

Suggestions for mainboard: Cartel Aristocrat , High Priest of Penance

I also suggest bringing your land base to 22 or 23. I might even take out blue altogether or just splash it with dual lands. Detention Sphere is good but it could be replaced with Banishing Light if you were to take out blue. Take out shock lands as this is more aggro than late game and put in a few Mana Confluence if you can get them

srry not shock lands, i meant temples (scry lands)
