false prophet seems like a bad idea - no death triggures as it exiles and if Athreos is active it hits him 2!

The mass exiling stuff is all a definite no way, exiling isn't dying. But I did take your advice and worked in some more board wipe stuff, Wayfarer, and Martyr's Bond in lieu of Grave Pact due to preference.
Keep those suggestions coming guys, really appreciate it.

I'd drop Ornithopter, Memnite, and Shield Sphere. You could add any combination of Blood Artist/Falkenrath Noble, Mimic Vat, Harvester of Souls, Bloodgift Demon, the 'soul sisters' Soul Warden/Soul's Attendant/Suture Priest. Also Reliquary Tower for when they start sending everything to your hand.

@wikd8ball: Good tip. I like the zero cost creatures because either the opponent won't pay for something so insignificant, making them consistent free blockers, or they will, and I paid nothing but one card to deal 3 damage. They also have infinite loops with Viscera Seer and both altars if the opponent won't pay, typically forcing them to do so.
However, I won't deny that they can be very insignificant themselves to me. Currently considering...
Out: Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, Memnite, Priest of Gix
In: Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Suture Priest, Blood Artist, Deathgreeter
Still on the fence but it's worth a look at, thank you. Also, I'm not so sure I need Reliquary Tower, all the times I've played this deck I've never had issues with hand size, and it only really has a cool interaction with Necropotence which is inconsistent to pull off. Are you seeing something I am not? I'm not positive that giving up a W or B mana land for a C one that has a janky effect is particularly worthwhile.

Try to throw in at buttload of Shadowborn Apostles they combo great with your commander.
December 10, 2014 4:24 p.m.
@naafyren88 No way. Apostle builds defeat the purpose of a singleton format. I appreciate the advice don't get me wrong, but I would sooner tear this deck apart than convert to an apostle build.

I like the deck. What do you think of adding Solitary Confinement to go with your Necropotence?
December 18, 2014 5:22 a.m.
Thank you! Solitary Confinement is super neat, though I am concerned with it's dead draw potential if I don't get a hold of Necropotence first. Still, it's a cool tech I didn't know existed. I'm going to very much consider picking one up.

It can be a dead draw, though it's nice that you have the option of burying it any time you want. It's a combo you can set up fairly easily with your tutors, as well as Diabolic Revelation and Plea for Guidance. Those are high-cost cards, but they essentially set you up for a win. Boseiju, Who Shelters All can keep your tutor from being countered, at the very least (and it's something that should be included in any deck that is running Exsanguinate, Debt to the Deathless, Death Grasp, Austere Command, Necromantic Selection, Phyrexian Rebirth, or Martial Coup, if you don't mind me suggesting so.

Also, I'm confident you know these cards exist, but if you have the ability to invest in lands like Scrubland, I should hope that you can also get your hands on Vampiric Tutor and Enlightened Tutor.
December 18, 2014 6:18 a.m.
Don't get me wrong here, Boseiju, Who Shelters All is an amazing card, but well, nobody in my group of friends actually has a counterspell heavy deck. I own one, and will use it if this changes, but for the time being I have no reason to use it.
As for Vampiric Tutor and Enlightened Tutor, running many many MANY tutors can make the game unfun for others, so I had to draw the line somewhere, that line being tutors that go to my hand immediately. Couple that with the price of these cards, and how difficult it would be to make room for them, I just decided to pass.
Oh, and while this deck is definitely not a budget build, and I can easily afford all this stuff. I actually didn't buy the Scrubland. My girlfriend bought me a Revised one as part of a Christmas present. But fantastic observation.

Makes sense. I have a lot of respect for EDH players who are mindful of an appropriate power level for their playgroup. I run an Avacyn, Angel of Hope deck but I don't use mass land destruction or crap like Serra Ascendant, Iona, Shield of Emeria, or Felidar Sovereign as I think they are abused in the format.

Updated to be a Demon tribal with Shadowborn Apostles. I however am wary about how many Apostles I'm using, I'm not sure if I need more or less.

Magus of the Abyss seems like a fun card in this deck. Also, Scroll Rack turns Land Tax into Ancestral Recall every turn.
July 27, 2017 7:49 a.m.
Thank you for the tips! I'm not huge on Magus of the Abyss as I think my playgroup may find him TOO griefy, however Scroll Rack is a great idea! I'll try and fit it.

You might want to consider adding more board wipe since your general does a good job of mitigating the disadvantages it would place on you. Some good cards for this are: Magus of the Disk False Prophet Merciless Eviction Killing Wave
Some more enchantments like Grave Pact Dictate of Erebos will also make it so that your opponents are less likely to be messing with your side of the board.
I would drop Wall of Omens and replace it with Wall of Glare. If you're worried about card draw, don't be afraid to add in cards like Phyrexian Arena
Weathered Wayfarer. Self-explanatory.
