The search continues for a viable Athreos, God of Passage deck in the Standard format. The community previously helped me with my deck Ferrier of Damned Souls, making it my own highest-rated deck.

Unfortunately, that deck was too vulnerable once more enchantment removal cards were printed. In addition, it was sometimes too slow. It won some and it lost some at FNM, but never got into the top. It wasn't reliable enough.

With Khans of Tarkir, I feel like the options for another Athreos deck have just made themselves available. The biggest gift to the deck is Butcher of the Horde . Topping out our mana curve, he allows us to sacrifice other creatures to buff himself, thereby triggering Athreos. By himself he also adds 2 devotion to the God.

The rest of the deck revolves around aggro -- hit fast and quickly. At the point where most aggro decks might be petering off, this one has the chance to really pick up. After all, Athreos can generate card avantage and/or finish off those last few points of damage with his trigger. Not only that, but Grim Haruspex can provide additional card draw and Bloodsoaked Champion has its own method of reviving itself.
