I got a few more games in and had some thoughts. First, I decided to try your advice and added Ichor rats and skittles back into my own list. I did happen to draw into both of them (different games), and to be honest, they ended up just rotting in my hand. Atraxa did go down once, but I was able to get her up and running again, and even then the game was basically wrapped up at that point. It seems like that my planes walkers were able to do most of the heavy lifting, even when she was down (board was relatively locked down with stasis). My thought here is perhaps the planes walkers on their own are a good enough win con and perhaps instead of having infect pieces, something else should be added to help protect our board/walkers when/if Atraxa goes down. Is Ichor rats really an alternative win con anyways...? Rats do rely on proliferate from Atraxa for optimal performance. Not sure what to add but I will mull on this tonight and tomorrow, but just some thoughts based on 3 games with Atraxa. I guess I should note that I usually play in a group of 3 (myself included) which could impact the overall performance of the deck (tougher to protect planes walkers from 3 other opponents vs 2, which is generally what I play against)

Gotcha, I've been leaning towards dropping the infect theme entirely and just adding some more lock pieces like Contamination. Zur will probably be going in the list as well to set up a contamination lock with Bitterblossom.

not a horrible idea, if you don't have elspeth or bitter blossom it is bit of a dead card granted so is stasis without its pieces so I can get on board with this. Have you considered going with suns champion instead of knight-errant? contamination with that on the board is going to be a big problem for a lot of decks since you will net two soldiers per turn

Venser although nice could be replaced by Brago to function better under stasis. Also why have crystalline crawler, pentad prism seems better for what you are after rather then having a creature that could easily be removed?

Brago requires hitting to be of any actual use so he got cut for not performing. Crawler operates under stasis without the need for Atraxa which makes it significantly better than prism which is why I cut prism.

I was originally running Sun's Champion but she's more expensive and only one of her abilities was ever really relevant. Knight-Errant produces less chumps but all her abilities are relevant regardless of boardstate. She also makes Atraxa a 3-turn clock for people so I stuck with her over Sun's Champion.

Could replace rats with Phyresis, considering you have zur it wouldn't be too hard to search it up and you can throw it down on any creature and still would be a faster clock than rats.

That's actually not a bad idea. I'll have to look into it. Thanks!

Have you tried Inventors' Fair? I feel as though the life gain ability and tutor ability are really easy to achieve with your list.

The tutor ability is more costly than I'd like. The life gain is also pretty unnecessary and not worth losing a source of colored mana.

Have you considered using Parallax Tide and/or Parallax Wave? Tide, when combined with atraxa, is similar to an Armageddon that doesn't hit you, and wave is a great way to remove all of your opponents threats. Also, since you have zur Dark Tutelage may be a better choice than dark confidant. If you end up having to cast it, it's 1 more mana to put the same effect on an enchantment and making it harder to kill. And if you get zur out first, you can tutor it out for free

The parallax enchantments just feel slow and inefficient. As for tutelage, I don't know if it's worth it even with zur since werun necropotence and sylvam library which easily trump tutelage in terms of priority especially in a stax deck.

Have you considered Meekstone? almost all of your creatures (except Atraxa, who has vigilance anyway) are power 2 or less. Seems like it would be pretty one sided, might be a solid include.

If my meta was more aggro oriented it would be phenomenal. As ot stands though there's no aggro lists that I'm particularly worried about and usually they get shut down by static orb anyway.

You're not running enough lands. This deck isn't really playable with 30 lands.

I haven't run into too many issies with the land base yet. Granted I haven't had much time to playtest in recent weeks.

Since you're playing Ichor Rats anyhow, why not throw in a Tainted Strike? It could kill with one hit depending on the players infect count and creature power.

The deck has gone through some significant changes so infect isn't even part of the strategy at this point. That being said with the previous list tainted strike was at the top of the list of things to try since it could remove a player from the game almost immediately.

Doubling Season has won me many games. When Doubling Season gets exiled (it almost always does because my play group fears it deeply) I supplement with Deepglow Skate and Gilder Bairn, ulting bant Tamiyo, Ugin, or Jace, Memory Adept always resulted in a win. Additionally, Parallax Tide proved to be worth running with the many counter doublers and Eon Hub. Eon Hub took away my Stasis cost. Everyone's upkeep triggers, and the fading drawback. While Eon Hub turns Tangle Wire off, It let's you stack up counters onto tangle wire so they have to cast removal on both if they want to cast spells. Sounds like a catch 22. It is.

I loved building Atraxa, fun to play with. Annoying to fight.

I also run Hatred because of Atraxa's lifelink. Surprise kill someone and get the life back. Treasured Find and Eternal Witness will let you cast Hatred again to kill another player. Snapcaster Mage, Magus of the Will, Yawgmoth's Will, and Sins of the Past get honorable mention but I've removed them from my list since.

Basically, Stasis lock isn't very important. You really only need Stasis for about 4-5 turns. I only use it to help ult my planeswalkers because they win faster than Zur attacking three times to get out Druids' Repository, Stasis, then Root Maze. In that order. So I removed Zur and his tech too. Ulting Tamiyo is really my #1 goal. Tamiyo + Atraxa by itself is a three turn clock of doom. Adding Stasis makes it near impossible to deal with. Same with Privileged Position + Peacekeeper. That'll net you a Walker Ult or two.

February 4, 2017 4:11 p.m.

Most fun plays are Doubling Season + Ugin or Tamiyo.

Ult Tamiyo + Doubling Season = play all your draw spells (Whispering Madness is my favorite cause you can draw again by attacking) or one single search spell. Search for Jace, Memory Adept. Play Jace free with double counters. Ult Jace, Draw 20 cards. Play them all, win.

Ult Ugin + Doubling Season = Well you draw 7 cards already from the ult. This will probably net you a draw or search spell and some land of course. Put down any Planeswalkers you have in hand first. Then put down all the lands you have. There's so much you can do here oh god. I don't feel like covering all of the possibilities but basically tutor up a stasis lock or a tamiyo ult with all the Mana and Walkers you just played with Ugin. I've never "not won" after ulting Ugin with doubling season in play. Let's put it that way.

February 4, 2017 4:24 p.m.

Sorry I'm blowing your shit up, but another really fun play is Tamiyo ult, play Venser, The Sojourner. Ult him. Cast everything you have and go on an exiling spree, but never mind cause all your friend just quit.

Lol no worries. This is actually what I'm moving towards as well. Hard locks thatcdon't rely on stasis so Tammy can go off and wreck everything. Hadn't considered Jace before though that draw ability is pretty dope.

February 4, 2017 6:57 p.m.

Bant Tamiyo Emblem from Doubling Season letting you cast Jace for free and use his ultimate right away to draw 20 more cards to cast for free? Fuck yeah.
