Atraxa Staxing Charge Counters

Commander / EDH*

BrianBartilet

Atraxa is really a good build around commander especially if you want to play the best cards using counters across four colors. I designed this deck as my primary Atraxa for my playgroup with a backup good stuff deck build, just to switch play strategies especially when everybody tries to get your neck because of such oppressive strategy this deck brings.

Stax Package: Lodestone Golem, Grafdigger's Cage, Smokestack, Sphere of Resistance, Static Orb, Winter Orb, Trinisphere, I would like to add a Thorn of Amethyst, but the amount of non-creature cards I have makes me think twice.

I tried to leverage on the use of charge counters buffs using such cards as Power Conduit and Energy Chamber. They do have a very good synergy across different cards in the deck, like ramping up using Coalition Relic, Everflowing Chalice and Astral Cornucopia. Or winning the game using Umezawa's Jitte and Darksteel Reactor. Then utilizing the proliferate mechanic just makes this deck go bonkers, especially with Doubling Season.

Backup winning conditions include Mechanized Production, Azor's Elocutors and Grafted Exoskeleton (using my creatures as beat sticks, the old-fashioned way).

Using Mechanized Production on Darksteel Reactor, Darksteel Citadel, Sphere of Resistance and Tangle Wire can lock out the table and/or create so much trouble which can make opponents scoop. Yes the deck is oppressive, but it is actually fun to play and do have lots of card interactions, though you need to get used to the faces of disgust when playing with this deck.

I do also utilize the best general purpose planeswalkers in my opinion, which can be also be used to other Atraxa builds.

Included also some cost reducing/ramp spells, Foundry Inspector, As Foretold, Crystalline Crawler and Inspiring Statuary which can get me ahead from the effects of the deck. I am also using the most efficient tutors, some deck fixing include Dark Confidant and his far cousin Glint-Sleeve Siphoner which really does well with the deck build, along with Phyrexian Arena, Sylvan Library and Sensei's Divining Top

Having pillow fort backups sometimes helps, utilizing Silent Arbiter and Norn's Annex, I had also included destruction removals to clean up things when everybody is ganging up on you; along with few spot removals, Thoughtseize and Swords to Plowshares.

Others are basically just utility cards, some help support counter generation and win us the game, Doubling Season, Gilder Bairn, Deepglow Skate and Contagion Clasp.

I do have considered including Contagion Engine and Eternity Vessel for this build but I feel they are a bit clunky and would just be stuck in hand without doing any much action.

Suggestions to card changes and discussion would be greatly appreciated! Happy brewing!
