Quicksilver Gargantuan could be a great card to copy Blighted Agent or basicly any other infect creature.

You can replace some of the weaker infect creatures with pump spells (also an answer to the quicksilver comment). Evasion + pump = win or close enough proliferate will win it

As Keramory says, it looks like this is almost every card that has infect written on it. Good start, but I imagine there's lots of room for improvement. One way to cut down on some of the redundant infect guys may be have more recursion. Reanimate spells are always powerful in black.

Speaking of Reanimate, I always hate to see an Avacyn, Angel of Hope (or really any multiple 7+8 drop creatures) in a deck without a super heavy reanimate or ramp theme. They make even be better used by your opponents than you!

Yea, these are all things ive been pondering...havent really touched this deck since it was built. Might be time to get back at it with some revisions

Revision: Reanimate in and Flesh-Eater Imp out

Yes thats not much of a revision. But even though most of these seem weak, i can make great use of them.

Glistener Elf - great early game and sac-able later to a Plaguemaw Beast

Blighted Agent - infect and unblockable, great early game, sac-able later to the beast

Core Prowler - decent cmc, has infect, and when it dies i proliferate. Its mostly here just to die. And when the clock is 10 instead of 40...its very scary to be at 9 and this thing being on the board, or 8 with Atraxa on board, or 7 with a beast on board

Hand of the Praetors - probably one of my weaker infect cards as a body. But one of my strongest as utility. Infect anthem and when i cast a spell with infect someone is getting closer to death (great synergy with all the infect cards that are just "thrown in here")

Ichor Rats - ETB and everyone gets a poison counter, all thats left is to proliferate them

Phyrexian Crusader - 2/2 with infect, first strike and pro green/white? For 3 cmc...stupid

Phyrexian Swarmlord - 2nd most expensive cmc infect card in the deck at 6 cmc, but makes me an army of chumps with infect that i can either swing with or sac to the beast for more tokens later should the swarmlord live. Yes its the slowest infect card but its also value and a hatebear that draws attention away from other things

Plaguemaw Beast - fantastic card in this deck. Sac a dude, tap and proliferate? Value

Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon - because Skittles

Viral Drake - has infect, evasion, and i dump mana into it as many times as i can to kill someone

Viridian Corrupter - ETB spot removal: primary use. The bonus is the infect so not really here for its power as an attacker but can be sac'd later for a proliferate

Blightsteel Colossus - easy to tutor for, never hits grave, big and scary. Because Blightsteel

This is only the creatures. I have a varitey of means to give infect to any creature i wish to have it and ways to protect and recur my little army of vileness that its like having multiple copies of them all in th deck.

As i continue to playtest revisions will be made to further enchance the idea, but as of right now this deck isnt optimized for any one thing. Just an infect goodstuff deck thats great for anyone to just pick up and play

It's fun! I didn't expect Atraxa infect to be so good.

Forgot the name but there's a 5/5 infect creature with trample and haste for 5 mana but you sac it at endstep. Put it in. If you can pump it, you just win.

Played a game of kingdoms and swung in for lethal at the king, was great.

Not going to lie, the deck seems a little thrown together. I would focus the theme of proliferating, good infect creatures, and pumping them. Then you can throw in just good stuff, like cyclonic rift, verdict, etc

I will say take out blightsteel if you're not cheating him out. He is a dead... dead card in your hand you won't be playing anytime soon. What's worse is someone will bribery and murder you with it.

And finally it needs more ramp. A few small rocks/cultivates and you're good to go.

Oh it is thrown together, no lie about that. Like i said right now its just a quick list to get the idea started back when atraxa 1st came out. Just this list got popular for no reason.

Also the card youre thinking about is Putrefax

Pump and ramp will be added in later as i test it out more. Currently still messing around with my breya deck and kydele/vial smasher deck to be bothered with this list at the moment. But when i do ill be taking a look at all suggestions the community has made in here and will build accordingly

Sorry I replied (and double replied at that) right as you replied lol.

But yes as you mentioned those infect creatures are good, I have them all except blightsteel in mine.

I'm also doing a Breya deck as well but I'm about to break it back down. Put litterally every combo and expensive artifact in there and still... meh. Gonna give it another month. Atraxa infect is so much fun though

No reason to apologize, its all good man. And yea, me and n0bunga have been collaborsting with breya since she was released. Got his to top breya deck here in tapped out with me in 2nd. She seems easy to build but tuning the deck is the hardest part. She is definitely my favorite 2016 commander with kydele and atraxa not far behind

You should definitely consider Mimic Vat. Too many good things to put under it. Especially, since you're saccing things to plaguemaw.

I think Sublime Archangel would be a good addition. She was a main player in my Modern Exalted/Infect deck.

I like it

You've already got Grafted Exoskeleton, so why not throw in Mycosynth Lattice and Bosh, Iron Golem. All permanents become artifacts once the lattice is dropped, so equip the exoskeleton to Bosh and you can just start throwing things at people for 8 infect damage. He's a nice "beatstick" with trample too, but the lattice will enable you to use his activated ability. Funny, stupid, AND degenerate. What do you think?

Also, Phyrexian Crusader is pro white/red, not pro white/green, but it's still funny.

However, why have Odric, Lunarch Marshal, when you could run Akroma's Memorial, which is way more fun!

Finally, you could run Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Liliana of the Dark Realms. Lili can solve color problems, and, if her ultimate goes off, Urborg makes each of your lands able to produce . Urborg also makes Sheoldred, Whispering One engage her swampwalk against everyone, which can also be really funny.

I assume you're already aware that Sheoldred and Sidisi, Undead Vizier means having a reusable tutor. It's a pretty neat combo that I've actually seen before.

March 23, 2017 8:18 p.m.

Bosh, Iron Golem would be an illegal inclusion due to the red mana activation symbol. He is technically red by color identity.

March 23, 2017 8:26 p.m.

KailDaemon says... #16

Lattice helps my opponents too much, plus bosh is red and incant throw him in the deck

Akromas memorial is too mana intensive for what this deck wants to do

Urborg isnt really necessary since we have alot of merens in my meta, they already have urborgs and that gives me a free slot in my deck, plus swampwalk with sheoldred isnt my main concern

Also with sidis, tutoring is nice, but its no necessary with my deck, and im not always guaranteed the sheoldred living to my next upkeep to reanimate it back

So for this deck i strongly recommend a Dauthi Embrace. only us old timers really remember it so it's usually unexpected. I mean seriously how many people plan for a defense against shadow these days? It pretty much guarantees that your infect creatures will get through.

August 17, 2017 7:45 a.m.

What, no Animation Module? you are missing half the fun, plus with the exploit of Sidisi you will want a stupid token to sacrifice. There is always room for a token generator in Atraxa!

I really like the Beastmaster Ascension and Defense of the Heart. Nice and efficient.

Current Deck Criticisms/Upgrades

  • Tooth and Nail, Craterhoof Behemoth, and Blightsteel Colossus seem out of place. Tooth and Nail feels like there should be a combo win in here to fetch. I don't know how you play, but I always hold a few creatures in my hand. I try to stay around 2-4 threats on the field at once so I can recover from wrath effects. Craterhoof could be an Overrun essentially, but that's merely a preference I believe.
  • Living Death feels too symmetrical. You don't want them to get their threats back. Sun Titan might do the same job albeit it more slowly.
  • Reanimate feels like not enough punch for the deck for a one-and-done effect. Phyrexian Reclamation is a permanent source of card advantage.
  • Triumph of the Hordes is another card that could be Overrun/Overwhelming Stampede for one more colorless mana. More bang for the buck than +1/+1.
  • Seedborn Muse - You don't have a lot of tap effects or cards with flash. What is this card adding to the deck?
  • Counterspell - Negate and Arcane Denial are easier to cast with your mana base even though the former is slightly limited. The latter provides replaces itself. Both also seem better than the conditionally useful Corrupted Resolve.
  • Crop Rotation - Is this the Inkmoth Nexus-finder? If you need more infect creatures, I would just add more creatures instead of fetching up a land.
  • Slip Through Space - Although not a cantrip, Artful Dodge does the same thing and you can use it twice via flashback.

New Card Suggestions

I would strongly recommend some mana ramp and mana fixing:

Increase Color Availability

Ramp/Color Fixing

Proliferate

Threats

I run a similar list and found that Hatred is really good. It usually kills one opponent by pumping Atraxa to 21 power and you even get the life back.

I just started building a deck similar without doing a search for it. Here are some of the ideas I came up with:

1) If you are playing multiplayer, Tooth and Nail may be castable, but if you aren't going to pay the entwine don't bother playing it. Otherwise stick with Defense of the Heart. There are lots of different cards you can grab, but my personal favorite pair is Triskelion and Mephidross Vampire. Together it's a permanent creature board wipe that basically clears the way for you to attack with you infect creatures.

2) Throne of Geth works well with old used up artifacts or with Core Prowler and Corpse Cur.

3) Forgotten Ancient is also on-colour and will ramp up your infect dudes as well. He also plays nice with Triskelion who is gross with Glistening Oil on him.

4) Infect isn't just combat damage, but any damage dealt by those creatures, so you can use Tim effects such as Hermetic Study, Psionic Gift, Thornbite Staff, and Viridian Longbow. You can also use these on creatures like Marsh Viper.

5) I second Dauthi Embrace. I remember playing back in Tempest, and shadow creatures were a pain to deal with.

6) I love using Ichor Rats with a Mimic Vat out. Either the player keeps taking hits from it, or they kill it and I imprint it on the Vat and they they are on a faster clock.

7) For evasion in any deck using black I've been using Filth and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Together everything is unblockable, and black is popular right now, so there is a pretty good chance your opponent will be using it.

Haven't had this deck assembled in almost 2 years and people are still suggesting stuff and using this as a base for alot of 4 color infect stuff...kinda makes me want to refine this list to accommodate the sets that have come out after C16. This is way due for an overhaul as I've matured as a player and haven't played infect in a while. Sure why not you guys

Poke… No one else has mentioned this card, but I think it's criminally underrated. "Ajani, Called of Pride." I personally use him in any Voltron deck as a win condition, simply his -3. It gives the Voltron guy evasion(flying) and double strike(!.) Now clearly this isn't Voltron, but it's the same idea... hit them hard with a creature. You're gonna have a scenario where you proliferated someone to 6 poison counters, and you have one of your many infect creatures with a power of 2 just sitting around staring at a blocker... and then boom, Ajani comes out and gives you a neat win condition. I basically see it as a sorcery speed "give target creature flying and double strike" by this point.

I would also recommend "Kheru Lich Lord." He can bring back infect creatures from your graveyard with haste and flying for a turn, might as well, right? :P
