Hello again. As the title says, "Attempt at Merfolk"... In the short time I have been playing, merfolk seemed like a pretty interesting theme to me. I wanted to try something new so I went for merfolk.
I only intend to use this deck with friends, for casual play.
The general idea for how the deck was thought to work is to get off unblockable damage by using islandwalk. The people I usually play with don't play Blue very often hence the Convincing Mirage. Most of the time I play 3+ person games, which is why I'm running so many Convincing Mirage.
At the moment I'm just looking for ideas as to the direction of this deck. If there are any cards that are a complete waste in this deck or any cards that would help with a direction for the deck.
A few other things that may explain my issues. This is the closest thing I have made to a "tempo" deck. I have multiples of Cancel, Essence Scatter, and Negate but I seldom feel I have much of the control or removal that I think goes along with tempo. I think I tried to a go a bit too aggro with this deck.

thoughts** drop Scroll Thief and Thada Adel, Acquisitor for Merrow Reejerey and Coralhelm Commander. Still thinking of numbers for each.
Note I will change the deck as I get more cards for it. I hope having the cards in the maybeboard is okay with how things usually go on this site. I just want to have the online deck show what the actual deck is / I don't want to change what it says before I get the cards I need.
Note I have rephrased a few sentences and changed the word control for something more appropriate. I was off when I described this as a control deck. The comments have made me realize this is more of a tempo deck than a control deck. Thank you to all the comments so far!
