This is an Azorius themed control deck. As all control decks, the idea is to withstand any opposing threat until you can gain control of the game and place an unanswerable winning condition.

I am now testing cards for the sideboard, so feel free to comment your opinions and give advice; I highly appreciate it!!

MAINBOARD

Winning conditions. there are 4 main winning conditions: 2 Elspeth, Sun's Champion and 2 AEtherling, which both work pretty well. AEtherling is a removal resistant creature (just pay the exile ability), and can hit with 8 damage per turn. Elspeth, Sun's Champion is a wonderful planeswalker able to defend herself with her +1 ability, while generating a massive army of tokens that will attack for +20 damage with her -7 ultimate.

Resolute Archangel and Jace, Architect of Thought can also be winning conditions, but they aren't as powerful as the others mentioned. The main use of Resolute Archangel is to restore all your life in case of danger of losing the game, while Jace, Architect of Thought gives you certain protection from attacking creatures with his +1 ability and a very powerful source of drawing with his -2 ability. Obviosuly, you can -8 ultimate for a winning condition; if you can pay it...

Removal. For board removal, I am running 3 Supreme Verdict (plus 1 more on the sideboard), 4 Path to Exile and 3 Detention Sphere (as the deck doesn't run any Planar Cleansing). There is no explanation needed; just wipe your enemy's threats and watch them cry in desperation. Even Azorius Charm can be used to return to the library attacking creatures in addition to letting you draw a card in other circumstances; just awesome.

Counters. One of the most important cards in a control deck. There are 10 counter cards in the deck, being the most restrictive ones 3 Render Silent. Mana Leak is an excellent counter early game, when your opponent won't be able to pay for the to evade your counter. Remand is also an excellent counter for because, altough returning the spell to its owner's hand, lets you draw a card and slows your opponent by one turn early game. Ojutai's Command use can sometimes be limited as a counter spell, but gives you other utilities such as drawing a card, gaining life or even returning a Nyx-Fleece Ram from the graveyard to the battlefield.

Drawing cards. Your best card in this category (and probably one of the best ones in the deck) are the 2 Sphinx's Revelation. If casted late game, you can draw an enourmus amount of cards and gain an enourmous amount of life (and whe I say enormous, I mean 10+). This can totally change a game; and have you from being nearly dead to nearly full life. Think Twice, Remand and Azorius Charm are spells which also serve the puropse of drawing cards while giving some other utility in other circumstances.

Other cards. Oh yes, the almighty Nyx-Fleece Ram. A 2 drop creature that can withstand even the biggest creatures and gives you life every upkeep? Yes please. 1 or 2 of these guys can ease you a lot the early game against aggro decks while you are trying to find some removal spells to deal with the threats

And they even can attack if buffed with Elspeth, Sun's Champion's ultimate xDD

SIDEBOARD

Now I really need some help in here... For the moment I've included a fourth Supreme Verdict in case of facing some heavy aggro decks, 3 Nevermore which are excellent cards to deny (or at least slow down) combo decks, and an Elixir of Immortality for those matchups in which you know you are going to last very long and need to recover your graveyard. Rest in Peace for graveyard hate.

As I said, any advice on helping me improve the deck (and specially yhe sideboard at the moment) will be very appreciated!

Thanks a lot for and upvote if you like the deck!! ;)

Updates Add

Thanks to all the people who helped me in the mainboard construction (Daniel Casana this one is for you xD). For the moment, I will try and run these lands, but in the future I'm planning on adding some Celestial Colonnade, Flooded Strand and Hallowed Fountainfoil.

Right now I am testing different sideboard options, and as always any advice is very appreciated!!
