Sideboard

Maybeboard

The main themes of this deck are:

  • Big clappo: With Aurelia's ability to get an extra combat step, you can do so much damage if you have a couple of creatures on the battlefield. With the help of cards like Insult / Injury and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight , you can do quadruple damage on a turn. Cloudshift gives you another combat step if you use it on aurelia before you attack with her on the second combat step.
  • Angels: I have liked angels since I started playing MTG. They are just majestic and look very cool.

Some side themes are:

  • Protection from boardwipes: Since you want to put creatures on the battlefield, you have to protect them from boardwipes. Especially when they are as expensive as these. Cards like Boros Charm and Archangel Avacyn   do a nice job, but don't do much against bounce or exile effects, so that's Legion's Initiative 's job. Unfortunately, this is the only card which protects the creatures from such effects. At first I also ran Eerie Interlude , but after a while I found myself stuck with it in my hand from the beginning of the game in multiple games, so I cut it. I might put it back in if my playgroup decides to run those effects more.
  • Reanimation: It's really nice to have some ways to get creatures back from the graveyard. Even if a boardwipe comes through, you can still get some creatures back. Cards like Dawnbreak Reclaimer and Bruna, the Fading Light do this.

Since the average cmc is so high in this deck, I put in many ramp cards. I also put in some tutors for equipments, so you can get Sword of the Animist if you need ramp, and Mask of Memory or Rogue's Gloves if you need card draw.
