Overview

Avacyn, Angel of Hope was my first deck I made in MTG because I love huge creatures that do awesome things. I wanted my board to stand strong while my enemies crumbled to dust and Avacyn, Angel of Hope was perfect. I play this deck most games and constantly keep it updated.
  • Decent ramp
  • Avacyn and your permanents stay standing while the board explodes
  • Lots of removal and control
  • LAND DESTRUCTION!
  • Very little draw
  • Little protection against bounce except for a few cards
  • Very little protection against hurtful words :(
  • You love land destruction like me :)
  • Salt is your favorite seasoning
  • You love being immortal and watching your opponents scramble to find a solution before they die from Avacyn, Angel of Hope
  • You like having a big hand
  • You like quick wins and infinite combos
  • You have friends

Card Selection

This deck uses a lot of white ramp to put out expensive cards fast.

Herald of War helps get out angels for cheaper and can act as a larger damage dealer later if left unchecked.

Keeper of the Accord, Archaeomancer's Map, and Weathered Wayfarer will let you catch up to decks with a lot of ramp by letting you find lands and put them directly on the battlefield. Keeper of the Accord also has the added benefit of letting you create free tokens for those decks who love to make an abundant amount of creatures.

Solemn Simulacrum let's you put in a land from your library.

Caged Sun allows you to get extra mana and buff your creatures.

Hedron Archive, Mana Crypt, and Sol Ring are all great mana rocks. Hedron Archive has the bonus of being able to sacrifice it to draw if you desperately need cards in hand.

Pearl Medallion is just a great card for mono-white decks.

Smothering Tithe is a white staple and will generate lots of treasures.

Myriad Landscape will allow you to basically put down two basic lanes onto the battlefield in one turn.

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyxis great in mono-colored decks because it allows you to add tons of mana if your board state is up.

Ancient Tomb and Temple of the False God are just good lands that tap for two colorless mana.
Unfortunately, this is one of white's main weaknesses so we only have a few cards.

Esper Sentinel is a great one mana card and will draw you a decent amount of cards even if most players choose to pay his cost.

Mangara, the Diplomat is one of white's few draw cards.

Protector of the Crown will let you draw from being the monarch.

Solemn Simulacrum can let you draw a card off of his death.

Endless Atlas will allow you to draw after you get a few plains out.

Scroll Rack is great for removing cards you don't currently need in your hand and exchanging them for new ones from the top of your library.

War Room is a good land to easily draw if needed.

Mikokoro, Center of the Sea if you really need cards.
White does a decent amount of removal to deal with your opponents board.

Admonition Angel and Grasp of Fate are non-instant removal but you can remove a lot with them until they leave the field.

Aura of Silence is just an easy way to quickly remove an enchantment or artifact without having to use mana that turn.

Elspeth Conquers Death exiles big things.

Sword of Fire and Ice this is my favorite of the swords just because you can ping other player's small creatures, killing them, or ping their planeswalkers, decreasing their loyalty.

Heliod's Intervention removes artifacts and enchantments.

Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares are excellent exile removal for creatures and are classic white staples.

Strip Mine removes annoying lands.

Ugin, the Spirit Dragon can deal with smaller creatures.
Lots of control cards in this deck to slow down your opponents.

Archangel of Tithes is a great four mana card for stopping creatures from attacking you or for attacking another player who has blockers.

Brisela, Voice of Nightmares     is fantastic for restricting opponent's removal and counterspells, as most are three mana or lower.

Grand Abolisher can deal with those annoying counterspells.

Magus of the Moat keeps the hoard of non-flyers at bay.

Sanctum Prelate can prevent some nasty two mana blue spells ;).

Thalia, Heretic Cathar is a great early attacker and controls deck with a lot of haste cards.

Aura of Silence is honestly a brutal card if you get it out early, really restricting your opponents' mana rocks and other arifacts and enchantments.

Blind Obedience is good for controlling your opponents artifacts by not letting them tap them the same turn they come out.

Crackdown is a card I rarely see. I personally think it is a fantastic card so I added it to this deck.

Elspeth Conquers Death makes noncreature spells cost more for a turn cycle.

Prison Term locks down huge creatures or decks that rely on their commander like Kaalia of the Vast.

Rest in Peace can bring you a lot of salt if played against a deck that requires their graveyard.
Make your big creatures bigger!

Akroma, Vision of Ixidor can really buff your creatures as most of your creatures have keywords and they all will have indestructible with Avacyn, Angel of Hope.

Caged Sun will give all of your creatures +1/+1.

Lyra Dawnbringer gives your angels some nice buffs.

Shadowspear is a great equipment for Avacyn, Angel of Hope as it makes her bigger and gives her lifelink and trample so she will no longer be blocked by small tokens.

A variety of cards to help you in unique situations.

Recruiter of the Guard tutors for small creatures that can help you in certain situations.

Elspeth Conquers Death returns a creature or planeswalker to the battlefield.

Luminarch Ascension will make you a lot of 4/4 angel tokens for cheap.

Crucible of Worlds helps you return lands you have destroyed back to the battlefield.

Shadowspear counters decks that also use indestructible.

Search for Glory and Enlightened Tutor are both tutors to help pull solutions from your library.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion creates plenty of 1/1 white solider tokens for you.

Orim's Chant protects you if you are getting targeted by an opponent's creatures or if an opponent has a lot of mana you can cast it to prevent them from casting on their turn.

Command Beacon can be used if Avacyn, Angel of Hope's command tax gets too high.

Emeria, The Sky Ruin is great for bring back creatures for free.

Flagstones of Trokair should be in all white land destruction decks as it allows you to destroy all lands and keep a plains.
Sometimes even Avacyn, Angel of Hope needs some protection.

Avacyn, Angel of Hope gives everything indestructible. What's not to love? Guardian of Faith is used in response to things like Cyclonic Rift.

Magus of the Moat stop non-flyers from attacking you.

Palisade Giant and Protector of the Crown will redirect all damage towards you to them.

Platinum Angel will not let your opponents win.

Platinum Emperion does not let your health change.

Serra's Emissary provides protection against whatever card type is giving you problems.

Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots will give Avacyn, Angel of Hope haste and either shroud or hexproof.

Robe of Stars protects against bounce removal.

Teferi's Protection is one of the best ways to avoid something like Cyclonic Rift or you can use it to just prevent damage to you.

Cavern of Souls is in here to restrict counterspells on your creatures.

Homeward Path can bring back your creatures from those opponents who love to steal!

Kor Haven keeps away large creatures or voltron commanders.

Kill your opponents with angelic spears and swords.

Avacyn, Angel of Hope is also an 8/8 and can kill someone in three attacks.

Akroma, Vision of Ixidor is a great buffer but she is also formidable on her own.

Bruna, the Fading Light   and Gisela, the Broken Blade   when combined into Brisela, Voice of Nightmares     can decimate and she is extremely hard to get rid of.

Serra Ascendant is a human, but might as well be as a 6/6 flying lifelink creature, only costing one white mana.

Wurmcoil Engine is a good creature because even if we boardwipe or someone else does, he will continue living as two!
