It's so I can discard Grislebrand if I had him in hand along with Goryo's Vengeance, a source, and a Simian Spirit Guide in hand. The odds of having that seem higher than being able to discard him with Faithless Looting on T1 which is only really strong if you can still get him out with Vengeance T2.
It's like using Reanimate T2 after discarding a Sheoldred, the Whispering One, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or Herald of Leshrac in casual/commander. I mean the worst spells for you are either counters, Tormod's Crypt and Path to Exile and all of those can stop you whether you are on the play or not.

Feel so scrubby for asking, but what's the card in the picture?

No problem.
It's Neurok Invisimancer. I picked it because it was the closest thing to "Bending" I could find that was dark-looking enough to also fit with the deck, and also prompt this exact question :D

Well I am glad I could appease to your intentions, but seeing that card just kinda makes me want to make a kinda grindy BUG midrange deck.

I originally started with 3x Sulfurous Springs and a Mana Confluence but they get out of control fast. With fetches, shocks, and Gemstone Mines I don't ALWAYS hurt myself so I'm not just dead in the water to Burn, and I still get some more delve fodder and no pain from Mines.
Controlling the pace at which you can go is vital. The choice to be able to go low is more important in this deck, than just always going low.

I would recommend a 3-3 Split of Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize. If you're struggling with burn, this will help. Generally, IoK gets a lot of work done in Modern anyway.
I'm also wary of Gemstone Mine because once you've used it thrice, it's gone.

I have found that 6 simple discards spells is optimum, and that Duress does the same thing as IoK does most of the time. The only reason I don't have another IoK, is because atm it's too expensive for me, and it might be a BfZ reprint. If I DID have nother IoK I would have 1x Duress, 2x Iok, and 3x Thoughtseize.
At this point I still don't even have my Kommands, maybe in a couple of weeks once my financial situation settles I'll be able to get those.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Gemstone Mine does a few things, a couple weird ones and a few just ok ones. One of the things it just happens to do, is make my opponents want to side in Blood Moon, which is almost a dead card against me as long as I get a basic Swamp out, which is easy. It stays around if they have an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, it doesn't pain me like Sulfurous Springs or Mana Confluence because I will almost always be using land for at least black. Then it also feeds delve when it's used up. I can actually activate Tasigur if I hit a later game with them still out (turn 4 or 5), and I have hardcasted Leyline of Sanctity with them before, which obviously isn't what I want to be doing but point being for that, that it opens up my sideboard as well.
Otherise, Faithless Looting and the cantrips finds more lands if I need them.

I'm honestly not sure what I'm looking at here. This deck makes me feel like a nub because I bet it's awesome if you know what it does.

I will admit it does look like a pile, but I am going to rewrite the description here soon to better explain everything. It needs it.

first, take out the foils and foreign cards to clean up the list xD

My god this is scary. I play tested as if I was on the draw every time so that I could just pitch Grisle.
I had 3 hands in a row without mulligan with both Grisle and Spirit Guide in opening hand. That's turn 2 swinging for enough to pretty much draw the whole deck thanks to the 4x Fury of the Horde and 4x Lightning Bolt.
The willingness to run Gitaxian Probe is also something very important that i've some some of these reanimator decks not doing.
Seriously if I had this deck and my opponent wasn't playing control I would always let them go first.
