i prefer Aphetto Alchemist
, it has lower mana cost and is a wizard, even though it doesn't untap lands xd
but i guess it's ok, as it wins the game with illusionist's bracers too

This deck is good. it could kick some ass. but you need some more lower cost creatures.
January 7, 2014 4:01 p.m.
Really like your deck dude +1 but ever think about something like Breakthrough for a discard outlet if you have Reliquary Tower out? I mean if you happen to have Laboratory Maniac then you could also forget about it....lol idk I just see like there could be one point where discard+elixiring might just be a safe bet.
January 10, 2014 5:31 p.m.
i agree that a discard outlet is important, but i'm not sure about Breakthrough
, ideally it would be Mind Over Matter
, but i haven't been able to get it yet. maybe Turbulent Dreams
could be a good idea, idk
i will think about it
thanks for the suggestion :)
January 10, 2014 7:35 p.m.
No yeah Breakthrough was just an example lol there are much better options.

Fatestitcher is an alnative to Aphetto Alchemist that happens to be a wizard... with unearth too! so if you're aiming to combo you can get him from the grave
Curse of the Swine is one of my favorite EDH mono-blue removal cards, being incredibly flexible.
Dream Halls is a psudo-Omniscience that costs a hell of a lot less to play.
Pemmin's Aura is a pretty cool card allowing you to untap wizards and stuff, also good for comboing with an untap creature and Gilded Lotus
Merchant Scroll is a great card if you need it.
January 14, 2014 2:45 p.m.
Arcanis the Omnipotent maybe?
Similar to Pemmin's Aura is Freed from the Real which is not quite as good, but if all else fails could be used on someone else's creature...
I just realized your land count is 39... Does this work for you? I usually run quite a few less than this and some things like Armillary Sphere and Expedition Map to make up for it... (I run between 34 and 37 in almost all of my decks)
January 14, 2014 2:50 p.m.
thanks for the advices.
Merchant Scroll
and Fatestitcher
are great, i'll try to put my hands on them.
i though about Pemmin's Aura
and Freed from the Real
, but i'm not sure about them.
Dream Halls
sounds awesome, but it seems a little risky that it also affect your opponents.
i don't really like Armillary Sphere
, but expedition map sound good.
i love Arcanis the Omnipotent
, but i'm not sure if it'll work on this deck because i don't have Lightning Greaves
nor Swiftfoot Boots
January 14, 2014 4:01 p.m.
Well, the great part about Arcanis the Omnipotent is that he's got a built-in return-to-hand ablility. And even if you do lose him, he's a very small loss in the end (just a bunch of mana). But to each their own. (he also plays nicely with Mind Over Matter in that you can draw as many cards as you want)
the thought behind the enchantments is that they turn any wizard into a "U: draw a card" creature with your general on the field. And if they have a tap ability then all the better! (like Elite Arcanist )
Dream Halls really the only reason I toss that suggestion is that in blue you can usually win the turn you play it by exiling cards for drawing more cards until you have a combo or something.

Psychosis Crawler ?? It can be a perfect win conditions in multiplayer games
January 29, 2014 12:10 p.m.
i took it out because i want my deck to have only wizard creatures(and clones).
January 29, 2014 12:29 p.m.
Great deck! A card to consider for this could be Kira, Great Glass-Spinner

+1 from me.
I'm curious about some of the wizards you chose... They seem to be somewhat unimportant to your grand plan. Stuff like Ringskipper (how any times do you win the clash in a deck where your average cmc is below 3?), Realmwright (it hardly matters with so few non-islands), Omenspeaker (scry sounds like a strategy with little impact here) and Disruptive Pitmage (most of the time your opponent would be able to pay 1 more mana)... Low CMC maybe?
Dismiss is fun but Dream Fracture could be better for you since it has a 3cmc instead of 4cmc. Memory Lapse is fun but I find it far more interesing if you have an Isochron Scepter , Otherwise it'll just delay your opponent a turn. I might prefer Spell Burst due to the buyback cost...
Very interesting deck, though.
February 19, 2014 4:52 p.m.
most of the wizards you mentioned (and some other) are in there just to fill while i get other cards.
Ringskipper
is replacing Aphetto Alchemist
Realmwright
is replacing Enclave Cryptologist
Disruptive Pitmage
is replacing Patron Wizard
Omenspeaker
is actually really useful in early game, and because of azami it is not a dead card in late game either.
Dream Fracture
is a card i like a lot, and i will probably try to get it at some point, but i don't think it will replace Dismiss
, i would rather take out Dismal Failure
i play Memory Lapse
because is a 2 mana counterspell and it also helps me with the point system we use at my lgs.
i used to play Spell Burst
on a early version of this deck, but it was never really useful.

Isn't Graceful Adept superior to Enclave Cryptologist ?
I'd replace both Dismiss and Dismal Failure . Dream Fracture and Rewind sound like better options.
Well, that being the case with Memory Lapse then why not Isochron Scepter ?
February 19, 2014 6:14 p.m.
not really, they are different. i like having 1-2 cmc wizards because they help me curve into a turn 5 azami with 3+ wizards already in play.
i like Graceful Adept
and i have been trying to make room for her, but all my 3 cmc wizards have been doing really well.
i already run Rewind
. i would probably take Dismiss
out if i get something like Remand
, but it will stay for now.
i dont really like Isochron Scepter
in this deck right now. i don't run too many low cost instants, and the only ones i think are really worth imprinting are like Memory Lapse
, Counterspell
and maybe Mystical Tutor
.
February 19, 2014 6:39 p.m.
I think too many wizards have enter the battle field effects. Once on the field there useless other then being used as a draw source with Azami. Wizards with abilities that can be used at any time give better utility in the long run.
February 19, 2014 11:14 p.m.
I don't think that's a problem, they all replace themselves once azami hits the battlefield. and even without azami they can still be useful with Aphetto Grifter
/Sigil Tracer
/Information Dealer
/Patron Wizard
(once i get it) and they can even be sacrificed to Barrin, Master Wizard
if needed.
Most of the wizards with good activated abilities (Riptide Director
/Echo Mage
/Arcanis the Omnipotent
) are too slow imo.

Aelorith2117 says... #23
how about a Xenograft and Talrand, Sky Summoner ?
February 20, 2014 9:52 a.m.
I think it's a fun idea, but Xenograft is useless without Talrand, Sky Summoner and my meta is kinda competitive, so it probably wouldn't work. i would play it at a more casual table though.
February 20, 2014 10:12 a.m.
I have my own azami edh, would be happy if I got some feedback :)This deck looks cool, I think Mind Over Matter is what you should be prioritizing the most since it breaks blue in edh, wether you combo it with Arcanis the Omnipotent or azami or whatever it give a tonne of stability and combo options.+1 for the wizard tribal :D

You don't know that you want it, but you want Tidewater Minion .
