This is my take on Azami, I've owned the deck for a while but only recently decided I want to make it less fun and more cutthroat and mean. You've heard of Azami if you've played EDH. She, as is the case with more mono-blue decks, is extremely feared, respected and hated out of most games. Don't play this deck if you aren't prepared for your playgroup to kill you for no real reason. The reason is fair enough: Azami is what Azami is.

That being said, let's get down to it! Azami is a 5 mana UUU2 general who initially says "hey build wizards around me for great card advantage." I've seen many people start with tribal lists, but in reality you hardly need many wizards to make the deck function. The most powerful ones will do fine, a truly optimized list hardly runs more than 10. Some that I am missing which should be included are:

Azami is powerful because outside of Stifle-effects there is no real way to stop you from drawing cards once she hits the field. But what if Azami dies? You're mono-blue. If you for some reason don't have a way to stop it, you can function without her and eventually bring her back to play anyway.

What are the combos and synergies? How do you play this deck?

Early game looks to do a few things: Gain card advantage with Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora. Set up your draws. Control. The best thing you can do though is artifact ramp. Mid game usually slam Azami. Late game combo off.

Palinchron + Deadeye Navigator + enough islands = infinite colored and colorless mana. Palinchron can also do this with enough devotion + Nykthos, or enough islands + Caged Sun.

Create infinite colorless mana with Basalt Monolith/Grim Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth and two starting lands (copy the untap ability of monolith creating two instance allowing you tap for 6. Rinse and repeat). If you have a Voltaic Key + Rings + a mana rock (sol ring, powerstone, etc) you can achieve this as well (copy voltaic key's untap ability, untapping itself and the the mana rock). Dump infinite mana into Staff of Domination to probably win you the game.

Mind Over Matter + Azami = Draw and filter your deck. The power of MOM is incredible, the ONLY downside being that it's an enchantment and therefore hard to find in the deck. Typically you want to draw your deck, play Laboratory Maniac and win.

What do I do with infinite mana? Cast everything in your deck with the aid of Future Sight or its wizard variation Magus of the Future. Cast a huge Blue Sun's Zenith and one shot an opponent to draw their deck and lose.

Your opponents will not have fun, but you will! The deck is very fluid, reactive and enjoyable to pilot.
