Azorius Aggro's main purpose: This budget deck is supposed to squash the enemy in less than 6 turns. Lots of cheap creatures and tokens enable you cast spells with Convoke ability at a very cheap price. Splashing this deck with blue means better card draw and thus still being able to win if the opponent managed to survive the first six turns. Imposing Sovereign,
Lyev Skyknight
's Detain ability and a total of eight flyers grant decent evasion.
Sideboard:
Glare of Heresy
: A perfect weapon against white decks.
Banishing Light: When Pacifism doesn't make creatures useless anymore and when your opponent isn't keen on attacking or blocking with them (see: Devouring Light).
Phyrexian Revoker: When you know what your opponent wants to cast another planeswalker or something equally nasty, you should start to make him regret his decision with this. Just say the name of the planeswalker or the card you don't like and laugh at your opponent wasting his removal on your Revoker, while your heavy hitters still beat him hard every turn.
Reprisal
: Actually it could've even appeared in mainboard, since there are lots of fatties in standard. On the other hand, what will you do with your
Reprisal
if you happen to play against an aggro deck? Well, the answer is as simple as it is cruel - you get a useless card. So just remember to exchange them with your Pacifisms when you see your opponent casting big guys.
Maybeboard:
The deck's supposed to be effective at a fairly low price, but if you like it, you can always spend some more money on Hallowed Fountains instead of
Azorius Guildgate
s. Apart from the fact that you get a multicolored land with a possibility of having it untapped on its first turn, Hallowed Fountain is an Island. That means your
Dauntless River Marshal
still gets the +1/+1 bonus even if you don't have a regular Island.
