Giant Killer just seems better than Law-Rune Enforcer. And Charming Prince is absolutely worth it, I'd give it a try. I'm currently running Humans in Esper, give it a look if you like:

People often seem to skimp on lands.

For this build I wouldn't go lower than 23.

We've been using Ixalan's Binding in StuBi's deck, rather then Stasis Snare , and it's proven very effective.

I actually think that Search for Azcanta  Flip would be better in this deck than Smuggler's Copter - just don't flip it.

Finally, I have no idea where you'd put these, but Always Watching makes a deck like this sing.

TRK27, thanks for the suggestions! Giant Killer is definitely worth trying. I want to get Charming Prince into the deck, but I need to play around with it a bit more to determine how best to fit it in. Thanks!

Hi Argy, thank you-- Ixalan's Binding is a great suggestion! I also like Search for Azcanta  Flip, but not in place of Smuggler's Copter . The copter just does soooooooo much work for this deck. The looting is pretty amazing.

Always Watching was a card that I immediately wanted to put into the deck. However, to do that, I think, would mean relinquishing some or all of the planeswalkers and fully committing to the creature plan. Maybe that's what I actually need to do, but Teferi, Time Raveler and Gideon Blackblade have just been really good in the scant play testing that I have been able to do. I shall ponder more and we'll see where it goes.

So far, I haven't had any mana problems. More play will determine whether more lands are needed. For now, I'm staying at 21. If larger play-test sample size reveals that I need more land, I will definitely add more.

Thank you so very much for the suggestion!

If it were me I'd toss Gideon Blackblade for Always Watching

One will bring you far more value than the other.

Since you have so many 1 drops you could also cut one Thraben Inspector

Again, with StuBi's deck which he's played competitively for at least 9 months (and which has consistently topped FNM), we found that he only needs three Thrabens

That would give you one more space for a third Always Watching

Be careful with the playtester here.

It's good for letting you know if a deck is viable, but you won't get a real sense for mana screw or flood until you play with your deck in paper.

Hi Argy,

StuBi's deck has a very different bend to it, though. Mine is tribal humans and Thalia's Lieutenant pumps the team or gets pumped as new members of the team enter the battlefield. Thus, Always Watching isn't quite as necessary. It's a fantastic card, but I just don't think it quite fits. Gideon Blackblade is a beast in this deck. It actually gets a +1/+1 counter on it if it comes in before a Thalia's Lieutenant , and giving a creature lifelink, vigilance, or indestructible has proven to be really clutch. The -6 ability for removal has also come in handy, and having a 4/4 indestructible attacker is pretty good. Were I to replace Gideon Blackblade , I would likely replace it with Gideon, Ally of Zendikar .

Were I to cut any 1 drops, it would likely be Law-Rune Enforcer (thought I am currently testing Giant Killer in its place). Thraben Inspector providing that clue token to draw a card is pretty sweet.

Ya, I don't use the playtester in TapperOut much at all. My playtesting is getting together with actual humans to try out physical cards. I'm old school that way! Ha!

Thanks again for the suggestions! They are so sincerely appreciated!

This looks pretty good, although I feel like it would be nice to have a bit more payoff for playing all Humans besides Thalia's Leiutenant. Unfortunately it looks like the options are pretty limited in these colors but a few options would be Metallic Mimic , Icon of Ancestry , and Cavalry Pegasus .

Icon of Ancestry is just better than Angel of Invention but what worries me is that you aren't running enough creatures. In the meta you kind have to have lots of threats to get through removal and hand disruption. Keeping a decent hand with a creature, a planeswalker and a couple of spells will lose 100% of the time against Thoughtseize . Also the creature base feels very...off. Thalia, Heretic Cathar , Law-Rune Enforcer and Elite Guardmage feel kinda out of it. Honestly Gadwick, the Wizened seems like a great pick if you were more blue orientated. In the sideboard, Rest in Peace over Tormod's Crypt and 3 Dovin's Veto is next to useless. Counterspell work best in Pioneer when you have many to make your opponent play around them, 3 counterspells in the board won't really do that.

BioProfDude just so you realise, it's not just the +1/+1 from Always Watching that is clutch. It's the Vigilance.

Argy, true, that is nice, but Gideon Blackblade can give one of my creatures vigilance, and that's quite often enough.

ChrisHansonBiomancin, Gideon Blackblade is a 4/4 with indestructible, and if I flip Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip that's another 4/4 with indestructible. Angel of Invention (which may be a card worth replacing?-- I haven't decided yet) is yet another potential 4/3 with flying. Smuggler's Copter does quite a bit of work. There are ways to close out the game.

Your point is well taken, though, that something to make a bigger "splash" might be worth considering. Thank you for the comment!

chrclgry, I had a long answer typed out as a response and posted it, saw an error after it was posted, went to hit Edit and fat-fingered it and ended up hitting Remove. Turns out there's no "Are you sure?" in TappedOut…

Long story short-- Icon of Ancestry and Rest in Peace are good suggestions. Thank you! The other cards are fine for what I want to do, and I'm not looking to qualify for the pro tour or anything. I just want to have fun, play humans tribal, and win an occasional match, which this deck should do. I don't want to make a CoCo deck, and I don't want a control deck, so this is where I'm at.

Sorry the line-by-line answer I gave got deleted because I click too fast and don't pay attention. I promise that I made some lucid arguments!

No problem, tho I wasn't talking about finishing power but was rather suggesting to try taking more advantage of playing a deck with all Humans. If Thalia's Lieutenant is quickly removed or you don't draw one (you'll only see one in 40% of opening hands), then some of your creatures are going to be outclassed by other same-CMC creatures in the format; nothing else in the deck is giving them a boost for being a Human. In decks that trade individual card strength for synergy, generally speaking I always try to have at least 8 cards serving each role since it makes the deck much more consistent.

A good payoff for a tribe ChrisHansonBiomancin is also Stoneforge Masterwork

chrclgry, ah, I should restate my lost Thoughtseize thought. You present a non-unique argument because any hand hit by Thoughtseize (or most hand disruption, really) will be weakened. It's like the generic response to any creature, "it dies to removal." Thoughtseize is just an exceptional card. Your argument seems to be that if I don't have all creatures in hand when hit with Thoughtseize that I will automatically lose. How is this not the case for any midrange deck that employs more than a single card type? Your point is taken, and anyone should consider Thoughtseize when deck building because it's in approximately 37% of decks. Nevertheless, a variety of card types is inevitable in a hand, particularly an opening hand. Were I to go the Collected Company route, I don't think it would differ significantly, particularly with a CoCo in hand.

Again, your point is valid and well taken, but it's not a point unique to this deck.

Thank you for the thoughtful commentary-- I appreciate your suggestions! I welcome further thoughts!

Well if you do like suggestions a good way to hate against a lot of decks in the sideboard is Lavinia, Azorius Renegade , just generally good against like Marvel and any cheaty decks. Also you do raise a good point about Thoughtseize and yeah if you're looking for a fun route I'd really suggest just browsing the card base on MTG for Azorius coloured humans.

Have you considered brewing in Esper? if you remove the walkers you can run lands such as Unclaimed Territory. General Kudro on his own is very strong, and adding utility cards like Kitesail Freebooter seem good as well.

Staying in Azorius, Warkite Marauder is a card I would highly recommend at least in the sideboard, and maybe mainboard.
