The practical implementation of The 8x8 Theory for deck building. This deck is created entirely using 1x8 packages from the 8x8 Theory blog. For more information, check out www.8x8theory.tumblr.com

Counter - Nearly every UX deck uses some form of counter to control the battlefield. Since we want to hold out until the late game, we want to keep our opponents at a slower-than-normal pace until we are ready to strike.

Draw - We need to make sure we have the right cards at the right times. This will make sure we can control the early and mid game and have our big ol fatties in the late game.

Lockdown - If opponents cant cast cards, then we have no worries about making it to the late game. Sphere of Safety and Augustin are already being used so I removed them and added in Gwafa Hazid for more lockdown along with an extra land.

Personal - I chose huge blue creatures for the personal package because the deck needed some way to win the game instead of just denying others. Plus, these big baddies will even help control the field.

Pillowfort - This nice little package will keep our opponents from attacking us. The more we keep our opponents focus elsewhere, the more we survive until we can drop our fatties.

Ramp - We need to make sure we have the resources to cast our fatties. These will guarantee we can.

Removal - I chose white removal for this because it will generally exile something instead of bouncing it. That will help us make sure we can make it to the late game.

Taxes - What else does Azorius do but tax people? We will use this great system to make sure our opponents will slow down. Since we are using Augustin as our Commander, we will use this slot for another land.

As for the lands, Halimar Depths, Temple of Enlightenment, and New Benalia will help us shape the cards we want in our hand. The cycling lands will make sure they arent dead draws late game. Prahv will help our archetype and Nykthos will help ramp. Everything else thats not a Basic Land will just help fix our mana.
