Azusa, Lost but Seeking EDH

Commander / EDH* Mono-Green Ramp

jrrockow

Azusa, Lost but Seeking. This one should be obvious. Play land, play stuff. Woo!! Crucible of Worlds is the all-star. Also, got some Eldrazi in honor of Battle for Zendikar. So yeah, I'm pretty excited about this one.

Update: I've been playing this deck a lot, and several changes have been made since it was added. Same basic idea, but I've tried to tune it a bit, and added more goodstuff. In our combo-heavy meta, wincons for this deck are typically just Genesis Wave or Craterhoof Behemoth with a board (Besides Avenger of Zendikar, Hydra Broodmaster and a few others speed this up a bit). Concordant Crossroads typically ranges from either really helpful, or completely vital to these plans.

Being behind on cards kills games pretty quick. Garruk, Primal Hunter, Horn of Greed, Lifeblood Hydra, Sylvan Library, Nissa, Vital Force, Tireless Tracker and Lifecrafter's Bestiary are all there to help. Regal Force may be coming in as well. (Looking at this now, I might be able to cut these down a bit.)

Protection was pretty weak on the first draft, as well. Soul of New Phyrexia and Kamahl, Fist of Krosa protect from and deter wipes, Asceticism and Lightning Greaves help for targeted removal (which our meta doesn't have a lot of for some reason). Eternal Witness, Greenwarden of Murasa, Artisan of Kozilek, and Praetor's Counsel are there for when things go wrong. (I could probably beef this part of the deck up a bit, but it hasn't been terrible)

Removal/Disruption is a bit tricky here. Bane of Progress is great when behind, but there are a decent chunk of artifacts and enchantments in this list, so its a bit of a double-edged sword. Krosan Grip and Caustic Caterpillar are nice for problem artifacts. Song of the Dryads works well enough, but sometimes seems a bit to easy to remove. Steel Helkite is nice for a looming threat, but can be hard to get value out of if he can't swing through. Strip Mine is a bit narrow (not a lot of busted lands in our group), but being mono color means there's no reason not to keep it around. (It also works with Crucible of Worlds, but don't expect to lock the table). Kozilek, the Great Distortion is an odd one, but fills a slot green usually just ignores. (This section definitely could be beefed up a bit. I'll keep looking at it.)

While it is important, the ramp/land matters package should be fairly obvious, so I'm not going to list it all. I will mention that no matter how many times I play Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger for the extra mana, he never survives long. Go figure.

I do have a handful of pet cards in here. Lurking Predators is really just a lot of fun, and keeps the game interesting when its not my turn. Hornet Queen is my favorite blocker (even if it dies to wipes, or just sits there while someone else combos off). Dark Depths is a lot of work for a beater, but man, what a beater.

Anyway, I'm sure I missed a bunch there, but the deck is a lot of fun. It could certainly still use tuning, though it's not in a bad place by any means. So yeah, go green!
