Any reason you don't run armageddon or ravages of war?

Sorry for the double post. Have you considered Rising Waters or Opposition?

I don't love the land destruction effects here since they tend to be best when you are running a relatively high land count (32+) to break parity on them. Furthermore, Derevi is waaayy happier to lock people out of lands with orbs rather than wiping the board of lands since we can actually take advantage of that board state through untap triggers. They are impactful enough that I don't consider their inclusion totally unjustifiable.

Rising Waters is just a little too inefficient. Static Orb is already somewhat awkward at 3 mana, for example. Also, Opposition is pretty lackluster when Derevi herself is already Opposition in the Command Zone.

Hey, you finally decided to run Archon of Valor's Reach. How's it working out? Choosing "Instant" with it while Gaddock Teeg is in play seems pretty clever.

Ok, so Aura Shards is an excellent addition to decks running permanent destruction such as Smokestack, which is ironically no longer the best card to use in competitive Stax decks. Those decks have synergy with cards such as Bitterblossom and Luminarch Ascension to allow your permanents to stay in play while locking down the board. It's not needed in a hatebear list.

This is the first example cEDH deck I have found giving credit to multiple other users, I want to make an analysis of different matchups against different cEDH decks, one of which is Derevi Stax, but I have so far only credited one player, is it okay with you, Pongo_Pygmaeu5, if I just link this deck and credit you?

Hey, cool deck! How do you feel about Mox Amber in any Derevi deck?

Hello there! Love your build, however I often find myself a bit short on mana, since I currently can't afford either Bloom Tender nor Noble Hierarch. So I'm currently experimenting with Druids' Repository. What do you think about it? Any other budget-friendly ideas for replacing those cards is most welcome. Thank you!

Devoted Druid is a replacement... sort of for Bloom Tender, not a great one by any means, but it occasionally can work.

Love this deck! Just wondering have you considered any newer cards that have been released (As of the writing of this) for example Lavinia, Azorious Renegade or even Prime Speaker Vannifar? Again thanks and good job on this deck.

Looking to work on this build, and I'd definitely recommend Verity Circle over Rhystic Study (meta dependent). Against a highly storming meta, rhystic study is the obvious choice. But against a meta where a larger curve of dorks see play - like in a Najeela / yisan style meta the verity circle provides insurmountable card advantage, or at the very least means that you cut off their access to dude-mana, while still having access your own.

Just a thought.

Verity Circle is a very easy include. Just haven't had the time to update the deck list since Ravnica Allegiance dropped.

Great! I'm glad I'm not far from the mark.

So, some somewhat relevant cards that are just suggestions with reasoning. I'd like your thoughts on.

As Foretold - not only do you get to sound like a wise elder when you play this, but it lets you break parity incredibly well beneath a stasis lock.

Bounty Agent vigilant (ref. Stasis lock); also it shoots a deck's general.

Incubation Druid a bad version of bloom tender? Goes extremely well with the synergy of the deck already.

Lavinia, Azorius Renegade - on your turns 1-5 she's great. Probably a high priority tutor target early game, likely somewhat dead late game.

Damping Sphere a great anti-storm piece, comes down just as early as they win, so a solid option

Prime Speaker Vannifar an obligatory mention. Some people like bad birthing pod. At the end of the day - it's exactly that. So with this knowledge what you will

Smothering Tithe - a 2 card hard lock with stasis that is just dumb.

Wilderness Reclamation - same as smothering tithe. I feel like it's less good - but is probably better.

The main card advantage engine in this deck is by taxing others. But it says nowhere that you can't also run: Beast Whisperer ,

Vizier of the Menagerie - bad style of draw & mana fixing.

Tithe Taker - a bad grand abolisher... but another copy, I guess.

Chakram Retriever is the goodest boi, especially for abusing bloom tender

Conclave Tribunal is a 0 mana o-ring. Neat.

Dawn of Hope - a nice win-more card. Cute.

Deputy of Detention - a spicy creature version of det-sphere. Meh.

Guardian Project more 4 mana draw engines. Ok...

Spellseeker is a nifty wizard. Fetches your real tutors / mana drain in a pinch.

That's the best summary I could give for the recent set's new cedh options & possibilities for this build.

Love the list just wondering how this would match up again a heavy cedh crowd now a days. Mainly zur control and breakfast hulk. Is this currently considered cedh and viable to play and win in that enviornment currently? Thanks! Again love the list.

Sorry for two comments in a row. But does aura of silence have an effect on zur triggers? It says play and not cast and zur says play enchantment. Would they have to pay 2 each time they play an enchantment off a zur trigger? Thanks also please see my Above post as well! Thanks so much.

SynergyBuild says... #22

KBet Aura doesn't affect Zur, unless you sacrifice it to destroy what zur hits.

Thanks for the quick response. How do you think this deck would currently fare in the currently cedh meta. Been playing cedh for a while been playing the same two decks just need to change it up but I want to be able to do well/win in a heavy cedh enviornment. Thanks again!

KBet tier 2.

Not the best, but able to compete with them.

Okay that’s not bad thank you. I read most of the primer up top. But it seems the win con is Derevi/Norn creature beatdown. Do we ever have issues with this or is there another win con I’m missing? I guess overall I’m asking if this deck has a hard time Closing games out especially 4 player games. Thanks again.
