If you're winning by any method other than swinging a host of 3/3 mana dorks at your opponents are you really playing cedh? (^:

I run Luminarch Ascension which speeds things up a bit if drawn. It synergises with Aura Shards and Derevi.

The deck shouldn't have a hard time finishing out 4 player games as you grind everyone down to an eventual hard lock if all the answers are in play. The game becomes "draw, go" and turns blow by rather quickly until either you inevitably win or someone resolves the answer needed.

For this reason, it may be safer to flex in some cheap counterspells over bombs that end the game quickly.

What do you think of adding in the Nexus of Fate infinite turns win-con? Seems pretty solid to me? Enables an "actual win condition" as opposed to just kinda hanging out for a shit ton of turns.

I've tried it out in a slightly modified version of this deck as well as in a control shell. I found I was still winning the majority of my games by grinding out the table and almost never actually managed to pull off the Nexus win.

Both traditional lock-down as well as Nexus wins require a certain amount of critical mass on the board. At some point it just makes more sense to me to continue to apply more pressure to the board and roll your "win-condition" into your interaction package rather than commit deck slots to cards that don't advance that gameplan.

Hello! I'm looking to build a deck similar to this one, but with a few budget restraints. If you were willing to take the time, I would really appreciate getting some deckbuilding advice from you. If you have a Discord, feel free to contact me at lrg123#1606. Thanks in advance!

A bit expensive casting cost but I like Nature's Will a lot, very abusive with Yisan and at least one player is almost always open to get hit so it often pays for itself the turn it comes into play and when you can hit multiple opponents in one turn it is silly how much mana you can make, with a few untap triggers to boot it is pretty easy to gain value from something like Yisan, survival or just tapping down opponents permanents more aggressively.

Been play testing this list and really enjoy the journey/adventure of a game. What’s understated are the many decisions made within a game that impact the current board state, but made with a vision of how to achieve victory through a future board state. Everything layers. It’s important that you know how all other opponents decks function, and understand when an opponent is close to victory or breaking your lock.

That said a handful of cards are effective against most opponent strategies, which create a virtual card advantage that’s discussed above - this decks version of ‘oops I might win’ (winter orb, static orb, dust drinker, stasis). While a combination of several cards can create this effect (like 3 tax effects, etc) the above singleton cards are simple and oppressive with Derevi. The unfortunate part is there’s only 4 of them and 3 are non-creature, which is difficult to find amongst 99 cards without black tutors. While not as ideal as another of these bombs, a tutor like fabricate or perhaps long term plans is worth exploring. These tutors aren’t as efficient, essentially adding 3 mana to the cards CC, but Derevi itself can break up the CC with post combat untaps to make a tutor manageable. For example dropping a winter orb turn 3 off fabricate is easy, and potentially game winning. I like long term plans less but this deck naturally creates time walks to reduce the drawback. Just my observations.

Great list! Pongo_Pygmaeu5 What are you thinking of taking out for Deafening Silence ? (If anything)

Very impressive list

Currently in the market for something anti-combo. So far it's between Teeg, Augustin, Nath and Devi. Would you reccomend one over another for this? I dont even need a win-con as such, but just in the market of stopping a few notorious combo players in my group

+1, obviously :-)

Hey mate :) I am also playing a competitive list. Somewhat similar to you. I honestly think the new Oko is too good not to play. It stops one commander at the table (if you try to stop more, they will attack each other) but if Oko gets to stay in play, which she will, you can eventually steal the first Elk, then make another on a new opponent. :) right now I am going to try Once Upon a Time. I don't think it's amazing on paper, but I think it's very good turn 0/1 to find a relevant dork or a relevant land but it's also fine mid/late to find someone, since looking at top five is generally better than a random draw. Also, I think that in most situations we have more than enough mana to have a 2 mana draw a card in our deck that is sometimes free... Defeaning Silence also went into the deck.

You have Archon of Valor's Reach in your deck, how's he been? I am really debating if he is good enough? What do you most often name?

Kind regards

Would you consider running Destiny Spinner?

Hi guys! I ordered the Derevi precon, and am loving this deck already! Wondering about some of the card choices though, why has oakhame adversary earned a place in this list? Would love to heat your guys thoughts on this card! :))

Leviathan2004 Adversary is a card advantage engine. Many cEDH decks play green, so it costs 2 mana more often than not, and it is a 2/3 (blocks well) in addition to having deathtouch, meaning it's rarely (if ever) blocked. Basically will always draw an extra card and plays defense against other relevant creatures like Najeela/Tymna etc.

I guess this is a dead decklist due to lack of response from creator and updates. Pretty sad, I liked the decklist.
