The deck is built with enough life gain to recover from any hit and punish those who try.
Teysa's No Mercy like ability is a fantastic combat deterrent, and her protection for creatures makes scoring commander damage too easy.

Protection from creatures is surprisingly helpful for avoiding removal and dealing with obnoxious commanders like Olivia Voldaren . Having vigilance is just a nice bonus.
