I can't claim credit for the initial idea, but I saw the interaction between the new card Thunderkin Awakener and Lightning Skelemental and decided I wanted to hop aboard this Jund-flavored pain train.

This deck plays like a mix between 8-Rack and Burn. You're looking to keep both their hand size and life total pressured while you recur Lightning Skelemental with either the aforementioned Thunderkin Awakener or Unearth . We have some redundancy in the form of Ball Lightning , which is less exciting but attacks for 6 points of damage with Trample so it's fine. Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek give you some early disruption and information so you're not out of luck if you don't have T1 Faithless Looting .

The deck is fairly linear and has a lot of trouble against Ensnaring Bridge and Path to Exile , but it seems like it could be a fun budget option for general Modern play.
