Want to try your hands at standard but don't want to throw a tone of money at the format? Look no further then mono red aggro in aether revolt! As well as finally getting some solid red burn in Shock and Hungry Flames, Kari Zev, Skyship Raider is quite literally a menace! This deck attempts to do a combination of all the things aggro (and red) wants to do including burn, go wide and smash face! A great place to start for beginners, a deck like this can easily catch slower decks off guard and go too wide for quicker decks. If you can finish your early game turn sequence with turn 4 Reckless Bushwhacker winning on turn 4 is a realistic possibility with this budget deck, even if your opponent has a few early game blockers (you just have to play on curve, turns 1 to 4 are very important).
For example (on the play):
Turn 1: Inventor's Apprentice
Turn 2: Play Bomat Courier, and hold up mana for Shock. Attack with everything. Kill their 2 drop with Shock during their turn or target them with Shock if they have no blockers and you really want to go agressive (Opponent's life = 17 or 15).
Turn 3: Play a 3 drop such as Lathnu Hellion and attack with everything (opponent's life = 10 or 8). Pay 2E at the end of the turn to keep Lathnu Hellion alive.
Turn 4: Play a 2 drop such as Harnessed Lightning to remove their turn 3 blocker then pay Reckless Bushwhacker's surge cost and attack with everything for 12 (Opponent's life = -2 or -4)
After a few weeks of Aether Revolt being out some of the rares (which are currently just under a euro on magic card market and at about 2$ here on tappedout) should be even cheaper and I'd expect that you should be able to pick up this deck for under 30 euros. I don't know too much about American prices but these cards should be relatively cheap wherever you are! As I write this every single card in this deck is currently under a euro on magic card market!
