This party box has some of the most powerful cards ever made in the history of magic, all with out any context of the formats that made some of them busted! If you enjoy high powered, silly nonsense games, than this is the box for you!

If you are unfamiliar with what a party box is, I suggest you check out Pleasant Kenobi's video on CardMarket's youtube channel HERE

While his box did inspire me, I wanted it to be more focused on actual magic game play, and less about non-magic powerhouse cards. For this reason, ONLY MTG cards will be put in the box.

Each party box has its own custom rules, and mine are as follows:

  1. Players use a shared library, graveyard, and exile zone.
  2. Players have no maximum hand size.
  3. Each card can be played for the front side OR placed faced down as a BASIC rainbow land (this is important for blood moon).
  4. There will be a number of wild cards in the deck (Starting with 15, but will add or remove based on gameplay). A wild card CAN NOT be a card played in this session. This includes actual card, or cards selected with previous wildcards. All costs associated with casting must still be paid.
  5. If a card would be put on the bottom of the deck, or shuffled into the deck, it is instead exiled. We are here to play, not shuffle.
  6. Tutor effects have their own specific outcomes. 6a. Tutors that can search for ANY card (Vampiric, Demonic, etc.): When casting, you may declare the MANA VALUE of the card you would like. Exile cards face up from the top of your library until you reveal a card with that mana value. Put that card into your hand. (other cards remain exiled. The mana value MUST be 8 or less to prevent decking) 6b. Tutors that specify what type of card the grab (Enlightened, Entomb, etc.): Exile cards face up from the top of yoru library until you reveal a card of that specified type. Put that card into the appropriate zone (Hand, graveyard, battlefield, etc.). (other cards remain exiled) 6c. Cards that specify both type and cost (Birthing pod, etc.): Exile cards face up from the top of your library until you reveal a card that fulfills all requirements. Put that card in the expropriate zone (hand, battlefield, etc.). (All other cards remain exiled)
  7. Cards that find cards from outside of the game (wishes, etc.) must target cards from the shared exile zone.
  8. Ante has its own unique way of playing. When asked to ante a card, the player anteing exiles the top card of the library face down by them. When that player is eliminated, which ever player knocked them out gets to add that player's ante cards to their hand at the beginning of the next game. (Testing this rule, subject to change)
  9. All players "own" all cards played. While threaten effects specifically return permanents at the end of turn, other steal effects are permanent. For example, using a wildcard as "Homeward Path" will NOT return the creatures stolen with expropriate.
  10. If an affect would flicker a face down permanent you control, it returns to the battlefield face up. If the face up card is a permanent, it stays on the battlefield. If the face up card is no longer a permanent, you must cast that spell without paying its mana cost. (X will always be 0)
  11. Effects that cause a sub-game to be played (Shahrazad, etc) still cause sub games to be played. HOWEVER, since the library is not to be shuffled or moved, the game begins with 0 cards in the sub-games library. Play will continue until there is a winner (the player who goes last after dice rolls typically).
  12. Booster Tutor cards are ONLY to be cards from MTG packs. The pack can be ANY pack of mtg cards (Black/Gold/Silver bordered, Repacks, Premium packs, standard packs, etc.). IF a pack is not present or obtainable, A player may instead randomly be given access to a portion of my collection, where they will then chose a card to add. All cards will be signed and dated by the player who added them via booster tutor. The player who purchased the pack keeps all other cards. (Any player who wishes to purchase the pack can, however, whatever card selected still stays in the party box. For this reason I will try to keep a few packs on hand as well when possible.)
  13. If a card effect would cause you to physically destroy a card (Chaos confetti, blacker lotus, etc.) the card is instead placed into Complete Exile. Complete Exile is a zone where cards remain during the course of a session. It does NOT get shuffled back into the deck for new games. It can NOT be targeted by wish effects.
  14. Jeweled lotus has its own errata. As there are no commanders, it can be used to cast a legendary creature.
  15. The box WILL be updated as new cards are banned, restricted, or suspended in ANY format. If the card is already in the box due to being banned, restricted, or suspended in another format, it will NOT be added. If it is already in the box due to booster tutor, it WILL be added. Cards being unbanned, unrestricted, or unsuspended will NOT remove them from the box.
  16. Rules list is subject to change with playtesting and new cards being added to the box.

I have just proxied this up, will update as needed, but looking forward to playing it!

(Some notes for those curious. The ban lists used are the official ban lists for supported WotC endorsed formats. This includes: Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, Block Constructed, Extended, Old School, Oathbreaker, Brawl, Alchemy, Timeless, Historic. It also uses the Commander Rules Committee's EDH banlist. Additionally, the entire history of the ban list has been used as well. Cards that were added and then removed from the ban list are still in the box.

Fan created formats, with community ran ban lists do NOT make their way into the box. This means that Peasant, Singleton, Typal Wars, Gladiator, Assassin, Emperor, Artisan, Mini-Magic, Prismatic, Highlander, Frontier, Tiny Leaders, etc. ban lists are NOT reviewed for the party box)
