Note to non-meta players who are interested in this deck: I strongly recommend that you play as fast as you can so that there will be less time wasted because this a stall deck(obviously)
When creating a control deck, you'd always ask yourself whether you want to control the field, the hands or both. In hand controlling, you use spells that help you discard threats(Example as thought seize, sin collector and duress) while you use crowd control and removal spells for field control(Examples are detention sphere, supreme verdict, and deicide)
There are controls like esper, rbw, usa, jund and junk but why bant!!?? First of all, we are anti-meta. Second, because it has mana ramp. Maybe, you're asking "But jund and junk has that too!!" Third reason is you have supreme verdict. Does jund and junk have that? It can't be countered so it's a sure removal unless they have indestructibility and stuffs. Fourth, it has draw engineS. Not only one draw engine but a lot. Fifth, it has stall.
DECK MECHANICS:
Mana ramp:Sylvan Caryatid - 0/3 blocker with hexproof! plus a mana ramp for any color! BUT THERE'S MORE! It has defender. After blocking, it doesn't tap so you still can tap it later for Sphinx's Revelation , Cyclonic Rift ,etc. You get the point. Fair enough's not enough to emphasize the usefulness of this card. You might want to play only one sylvan at a time because there'll come a time where you'll have to sacrifice them for supreme verdicts. But if you're mana screwed, you have no choice but to play two to three.
Stalls:Jace, Architect of Thought -His +1 is really a plus against aggro. If you're against aggros or token spawning pips like Young Pyromancer , Elspeth, Sun's Champion , etc. It does really help because elspeth creates 3 1/1 soldiers every turn. Four turns after Elspeth was played, you'll have taken 15 damage if it wasn't for this guy.
Kiora, the Crashing Wave is a very good stall against big creatures like Desecration Demon and Fabled Hero and his enchantments. Nuff said.
Elspeth, Sun's Champion- This lady allure for soldiers helps her block three creatures without trample every turn.
Removals-Bramblecrush - WTF? What is wrong with you. Nothing's wrong with me. This guy can remove anything except a creature! Imagine your planeswalker getting Detention Sphere or Banishing Light Claim him/her back with this bad-ass four to cast removal. You can also remove an enemy Jace, Architect of Thought for stalling you're Elspeth, Sun's Champion. Still boring? REMOVE THE LAND!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA! Boros deck with only a sacred foundry in play? I guess you've found your target. HUE HUE HUE. In short, it's really useful.Supreme Verdict - This guy's REALLY useful against aggro's because most of them are creature dependent. Best part? They don't have regenerate/indestructible except for white, boros, selesnya and golgari. Just play safe when against there bad boys. When they tap out, boom. That's your call, destroy em all!
Detention Sphere - Indestructible and regeneration? No problem. I'll just exile them. This is good against tokens. Like Trostani, Selesnya's Voice and the wurm(made by Advent of the Wurm population. You can D Sphere both of em. OR DEM ENCHANTMENTS AND PLANESWALKERS! ANYTHING BUT LANDS AND ANOTHER DETENTION SPHERE!
Not enough for you? Well, guess what! I GOT MORE
Selesnya Charm - Shouldn't this be in an aggro deck? Nope. You can have a 2/2 blocker at instant speed. Block them 2 toughness or less. Or just exile them 5 or greater power. Very useful against monoblack because of Desecration Demon and Master of the Feast or against aggro selesnya because they easily get to 5/5 with Advent of the Wurm and a Call of the Conclave or Fleecemane Lion with Unflinching Courage
You have Last Breath for monoblue Master of Waves and Nightveil Specter or on Selesnya's Voice of Resurgence and Fabled Hero and you have monoblack's Mutavault, Grey Merchant of Asphodel, and Pack Rat
Deicide is for God/Normal Enchantments. In a monoblue deck you get to use this on either Thassa, God of the Sea or Bident of Thassa. Since they are aggro, they'll want to have Thassa, God of the Sea by turn three. Having a Deicide would help you a lot kill all those Thassa's. If you don't have one just use Selesnya Charm or Detention Sphere. A scry 1 before draw really helps them.
Cyclonic Rift is for all those set up decks. If you were to go against simic/bant Sage of Hours, They'll try to have a field set up. What you'll do is either bounce everything back with Cyclonic Rift because they'll try to play safe so that Sage of Hours can do his infinite turn combo. By then, you should have either killed Ajani,Mentor of Heroes and Master Biomancer because they'll easily put a counter on Sage of Hours.Anyway, going back. Cyclonic Rift is good against set-up decks like simic or orzhov enchantments.
Lastly, we have Planar Cleansing. If you will play this, I suggest you remove Detention Sphere unless you'll use it for your own planeswalkers. It basically removes everything. So being the control that you are, you'll have to at least remove 4-5 nonland permanents to make sure that it will hurt and be careful against counterspells.
Draws:Sphinx's Revelation- Instant speed plus you have mana ramp.
Ajani, Mentor of Heroes-Makes Sylvan Caryatid bigger blockers or just get more planeswalkers.
Jace, Architect of Thought-It gives you more choices. Three card dig for his -2.
Kiora, the Crashing Wave- Additional land drop plus a draw. Not bad for land ramp.
For the life you lost earlier.
Elixir of Immortality plus it returns your dead superfriends.Sphinx's RevelationIf you are lucky, you get 100 life with Ajani.Mentor of Heroes
I already told you how to use the cards. I won't tell you what to take out and replace it with. Use your instincts. You have the wrong instincts? Correct it.
