I envisioned that Merfolk would be the best deck in Standard. This got me thinking, what can beat Merfolk? This maybe? With a proper side-board I think so. I haven't tested this live against anyone yet, just simulated runs against no one. Perhaps it's no good. We'll see. The synergies seem really good, and side-board potential looks promising.

It's so satisfying to play Sram's Expertise and a free Secrets of the Golden City with city's blessing.

Slaughter the Strong seems to keep my tokens alive, or my 4/4 zombie cats from Adorned Pouncer while messing up my opponents. Gideon of the Trials and Gideon, Martial Paragon are a fun pair with early game protection, followed by late game attack bonuses for my tokens. Not to mention not being able to lose the game. It's a massive diversion, and boosts my win condition. If it's still tough to knock the opponent down, I've added a Zetalpa, Primal Dawn for insurance.

Drawing cards, reanimating cats, gaining life, preventing damage, countering spells, making tokens, board wipes - it seems to have it all.
