Great deck. Just played against him, and worked very well against control. The morph cards were efficient at countering my spells, and overall the decks tempo to the mid-game was pretty pro. Would recommend to anyone!

Dude, this looks GREAT! Could you take a look at my version?

I've been looking for a new way to take my Manifest deck. This has given me some ideas.

I will say, a fun card to sideboard into this (when running more Manifest spells obviously) is Hornet Nest. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten somebody trying to nail my supposed face down Hooded Hydra and catch a face full of BEES. and the reactions is always priceless.

Besides the problem I only own 1 Hornet Nest is that people have begun to suspect it's played. I liked the Sedge Scorpion because it's super cheap to flip or cast T1 against mono red, but I might swap it in though, instead of a Qarsi Deceiver.

I'm not sure Prophet of Kruphix is worth it. Sure, things get nuts if she sticks around for a few turns, but if you're worried about the mono-red matchup, she dies to Lightning Strike and even Fiery Impulse. Considering the strong synergies your deck seems to have, she seems very out-of-place. More Stratus Dancers or Hidden Dragonslayers or maybe another Sagu Mauler or two seem better to me, personally. Other than that this looks really sweet, and I've been considering building something like this myself.

Actually, why not more Whisperwood Elementals? In this kind of deck, I feel like you should have at least 3 of him, if not 4. I would also think Kheru Spellsnatcher is pretty bad unless you can manifest him -- is a lot to pay for that ability, and his body isn't even that great afterwards.

Obviously you have never played with spellsnatcher.

As a one-of, Kheru Spellsnatcher absolutely gets work done. I can sit on him until my opponent casts a planeswalker or other huge spell, and steal it. Best steal so far was a Garruk, Apex Predator vs. a walker deck. Single handedly won me the game. That being said, maybe, considering the meta, it's best if he starts off in the sideboard, in lieu of a Hidden Dragonslayer or Stratus Dancer, as it seems like more decks in the format are faster.

Prophet of Kruphix is admittedly weak to burn, but in just about every other matchup it works wonders. I flash the morph in on their turn and flip it on my turn. I typically side them out vs. red aggro for my 2-drop creatures in the side board, and my Hornet Nest.

I had 4 Whisperwood Elementals in there originally, but ultimately, I needed to cut the higher CMC creatures in favor of more lower cost creatures. I found the balace of 2 Prophet of Kruphix, 2 Sagu Mauler & 2 Whisperwood Elemental to be pretty good, with 1 Mauler relegated to sideboard as a concession to the speed of the format.

Is your meta very Artifact/Enchantment heavy? If not, I would suggest cutting Ainok Survivalist from the main board. I run a Simic morph list, and I only run two in my sideboard. Again, though, your local meta does matter.

buildingadeck a one of has consistently come in handy Hangarback Walker, Ensoul Artifact, Claustrophobia, Banishing Light are all things a one of main deck answer to are very nice to have. I especially expect there to be thopters in the meta

That makes sense. It'll really depend on what people at your LGS are running.

Went 1-1 last night, not many people showed up. Beat rdw/Impact Tremors edition, and lost to rg monsters with multiple Fanatic of Xenagos The deck handled well, just had some bad mana luck

Hey! I played this deck tonight at my local FNM.Beat Mill Round 1 (2-1), Thopter Round 2 (2-0), and Sultai Round 3 (2-1). I drew the last two to make Top 8, but was stricken down by Black/Green Enchantment. Could only stop the -1/-1 for so long before it became too much. I really love this and will definitely still be playing it!

I would definitely consider Secret Plans. While it does seem like a win-more card (and, in certain situations, is one), it is a good card-draw source. I would cut one Obscuring AEther For one and one of something aside from Trail of Mystery. Granted, I don't splash white in my build, but that's my two cents.

Why no Secret Plans?

JoshHatter That's awesome! I'm glad you had fun playing it!

buildingadeck & Kozelek, Secret Plans is not so much winmore as it is slow setup. Card draw is nice, but my card advantage comes from directly manifesting to the battlefield. There is obvious synergy, but the Turn 2 slot is crowded, and it is the least useful card of the 4 morph based enchantments. Obscuring AEther's ramp is so incredibly important, Mastery of the Unseen is both consistent mana sink for card advantage and life gain, and Trail of Mystery triples as both ensuring land drops, ensuring manifested cards are creatures by removing the basic lands from the deck, and a pump in combat to take out a bigger creature with a smaller one, keeping my creature alive, or swinging a Den Protector past an array of blockers usually at an elspeth. the extra toughness of Secret Plans is seldom helpful as people have higher damage spells more often, and it gives nothing if I can't flip them. All the others give me benefit, even if my creatures are removed, but Secret Plans needs my creatures to stick around.

Why don't you cut the one mainboard Ainok Survivalist so you have 60 cards instead of 61??

September 22, 2015 10:02 p.m.

piebandit says... #19

Zankaa there is almost always a target for it, Thopters, Ensoul Artifact, Ghostfire Blade, Suspension Field, Sphinx's Tutelage, Impact Tremors, the list goes on. The only deck that doesn't really play artifacts or enchantments is mono-red, and in that case, I'm glad I have another 2 drop creature

September 25, 2015 12:39 a.m.

Zankaa says... #20

The thing is, you don't NEED another 2 drop vs mono red, you have 12 2CMC creatures. The 2 in the sideboard should be sufficient enough. What if there's NOT a target on board (2 of the targets you listed are rarely played, Impact Tremors and Suspension Field, and 3 others are only really played in 1 deck that's rotating out)? Then you're left with a pretty crappy 2 drop.

On one side of the coin, those threats were much more prevalent in my local meta, and I was usually very happy when he showed up. but on the other side, the decision to include him as a one of was also before the time I had Dromoka's Command in the deck. I suppose it actually serves a similar purpose, and the Ainok Survivalist could go.

Regardless, as of right now, this is the final evolution of this deck. It served me faithfully, but I don't see it powering through the Eldrazi menace. I may resurrect it as a 4-color variant, utilizing the new duals, but for now, This deck has made me proud and is entering retirement.
