Bant Slivers: Pauper Style

Pauper* Budget GWU (Bant) Sliver Tribal

TopDeckin

Sideboard

Sorcery (4)

Bant slivers has one of the best cost to performance ratios of any deck that I know of, let me tell you why.

At the heart of this deck are 12 slivers that boost power and toughness by 1 and are cumulative: Predatory Sliver, Sinew Sliver and Muscle Sliver. Plated Sliver gives +0/+1 to all adding in extra resiliency early on. After T2 or T3 most of the time slivers have scaled up out of sweaper range (except Crypt Rats ), trade 2 for 1 or better and out of range of lots of targeted removal spells Dead Weight, Echoing Decay etc... mono black sac effects can slow the deck down but this deck can ride it out with it's redundancy. By T3 you generally have a dominant board state except against combo decks (more on combo match up later).

Surrounding the core of the deck are a mixture of slivers that add useful effects Winged Sliver for evasion, Sidewinder Sliver, Sentinel Sliver and Talon Sliver to produce favorable combat scenarios. Gemhide Sliver is used for an explosive turn when casting Distant Melody and can help fix mana with an awkward mulligan hand or smooth out getting mana screwed.

Matchups:

Thanks to the banning of Temporal Fissure this deck stands a chance against most other combo decks. One key sideboard against non-white token/ creature combo decks (elves primarily) is Holy Light drop that turn 4 or 5 and generally they concede. Against Mono Black Control you have enough creatures that scale fast enough to quickly render their targeted removal useless or at best a 2 for 1. Save Dispel for their insta sac cards. There is enough built in redundancy to weather most MBC decks (watch out for Crypt Rats though). Sub in Intervene if extra defense against targeted creature removal is needed. Sub in 4x Sunlance and 4x Unsummon for the mirror match.

With a small amount of searching you can put this deck together on MTGO for under 5 tix, especially if trading is involved.
