Planeswalker (2)

A while ago I read an article on wizard's website about a deck called Turbo Fog and I was so curious that I read the entire article and immediately fell in love with the deck. I bought the cards I needed and tried it out and it worked wonders. I had friends who loathed this deck because they would either say "I can't win" or "This isn't even fun to fight." Other friends would be overjoyed as soon as they saw Jace Beleren come to the field and loved the deck even if they thought they were going to lose because it allowed them to pull off ridiculous combos. Anyway, the deck has gone through many modifications but I've decided that so far this is my favorite version and I can honestly say that 9 out of 10 times, this deck will win.

So, for those who don't know what Turbo Fog is let me explain in this paragraph. Turbo Fog is a group hug deck dedicated to winning the game by making your opponent draw out their deck. The Turbo part is the main engine of the deck, referring to the draw power that the deck maintains. Rites of Flourishing, Jace Beleren, and Otherworld Atlas do this part for you but if you think the deck isn't Turbo enough then you can add cards like Howling Mine and Font of Mythos . The Fog part is pretty self explanatory. Turbo Fog has only one way to protect itself, and that is through the use of cards like Fog. These include Clinging Mists , Fog, Safe Passage , Blunt the Assault , Moonmist, and many more. You allow your opponent to draw as many creatures as they want and let them attack you just to prevent the damage.

Now Turbo Fog has five other cards that play a vital role in the deck. These five cards are Supreme Verdict, Noxious Revival, Path to Exile, Elixir of Immortality, and Witchbane Orb. Supreme Verdict is your go to card whenever things get a little bit too intimidating for you or if your opponent is running a pesky burn creature. Noxious Revival is there to abuse your Supreme Verdicts and Path to Exiles and to get back any cards that may have been destroyed (like Beleren). Then you have Path to Exile to get rid of creatures that just won't go away or are indestructible. This is also very helpful since it allows your enemy to get a land, taking one more card out of their deck allowing you to win that much faster. Elixir is your way of stopping yourself from also decking out due to card drawing. When your graveyard gets to big from your fogs and path to exiles and such use it to prevent yourself from drawing out and to reload your arsenal. Finally, Witchbane Orb, this is your way of flicking off burn decks. Just be careful though, adding to many in will result in dead draws which will usually end up killing you.

Three things I want to point out in this deck is the following, Firstly, always make sure you have mana to fog. Even if you want to play Beleren or Atlas you need mana to fog just in case. I have lost before because I haven't saved mana and got killed. Secondly, although it isn't bad to use Noxious Revival on your turn, it's better if you use it on your opponent's turn. Third, make sure you have enough mana to both cast and use Elixir of Immortality just in case of artifact destruction or anything else that could get rid of it. Remember that is the only way you don't lose the game as well. Finally, Witchbane Orb, I prefer to main deck it because almost every deck has some kind of burn spell in it but you will be fine if you sideboard it instead.

This deck is very fun to play since you feel like an asshole the entire time. Your opponent can't do too much and they get frustrated pretty easily. If you want to make it faster paced you can add more Turbo cards in like Font of Mythos and Howling Mine as stated before but you can also add in Jace, Memory Adept for his 0 ability if you really want to be a jerk. If you want an alternate win condition Azor's Elocutors isn't a bad idea.

The last thing I want to say is this decks main strengths and weaknesses. Since this deck has exactly zero creatures it really screws over opponents with lots of creature removal cards since they won't be able to use them. It also make most board sweeps useless unless they destroy everything cough Planar Cleansing cough. Your main threats are burn decks because without Safe Passage or Witchbane Orb you will lose the game since all of the other fog cards prevent only combat damage. Also, control decks can put a damper on your plans if they counter your Fogs or Turbo since you'll have to wait for either Noxious Revival or Elixir to obtain them. If you really want to you can add Reclaim and more elixirs in case of countering. Besides this this deck is pretty solid and very adaptable. I hope you enjoy my deck and feel free to leave comments about cards you would put in and what you think.

Also because I forgot to add this part in and I don't feel like cutting and pasting or backspacing or anything some more things about the deck. Ponder helps you get the cards you need and if the one you need isn't there you can always shuffle your deck and hope for the best. Render Silent is there if you want to be a troll and if you want to be a troll you can also use Silence. As far as the maybeboard goes, Final Judgment in case you fight decks with indestructible creatures or decks revolving around creatures being in the graveyard. Gideon Jura to make all creatures attack him if you don't feel like fogging or don't have a fog. Terminus for the trolling and Temporal Mastery with Noxious Revival and Reclaim is always a good time. Reliquary Tower which is in the sideboard is there because you will end up discarding cards due to hand size soon enough although this isn't a bad thing or anything since you'll end up getting your cards back. If you really are worried about it then mainboard it.
