Sideboard


Bant Modern deck I've decided to run in my playgroup area. I've gotten it right where I like it, really quick, lots of cantrips for drawing cards to speed through the deck, plenty of ways to maintain priority for card draw and answers. The goal of the deck is to have a minimum of 3 lands (1 must be Forbidden Orchard), Intruder Alarm, and a Voyaging Satyr. This gives infinite mana of any color (but it does populate your opponents board with 1/1 colorless Spirit creatures - but these don't matter). After these cards are in play, I can cast any number of my draw spells to get a Laboratory Maniac on the field. Cast a few Sphinx's Revelation to make sure you have some Remand in hand to counter whatever your opponent might do while also drawings cards. If I happen to have a Merfolk Looter on field, I can still cycle through my deck to the win with this card with the Forbidden Orchard + Intruder Alarm + Voyaging Satyr combo. Drop the Emrakul, Aeon's torn if they stifle the triggered ability of Laboratory Maniac, cast Vanish into Memory on the Eldrazi, draw 15 - win if they can't counter anything.

Sideboard:The Sideboard changes the tempo of the deck only by a turn or two. With the pure draw power given in the mainboard, we can side out a few cards versus different decks. Mostly, Aggro decks will be the problem. Against this we take in Overrule , Fog, and Dawnglow Infusion . These cards allow us to stall our life loss until we are certain to get the win combo. Against other decks that have spot exile, we switch out Emrakul, Aeon's torn for either Kozilek, Butcher of Truth or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre. Kozilek will allow us to draw more cards, Ulamog will allow spot removal of lands versus aggro decks which can survive using only three lands, as well as spot removal for annoying enchantments ( Pyromancer Ascension and others). If I want to abuse an ETB effect such as any of the Eldrazi, I sub in Banishing Knack on a Sylvan Caryatid to both protect my target, and give a perma-bounce affect to my board.
