Good old modern blade pal, this year is ours! I'm dusting off Tarmoslayer ;)

elpokitolama Great to see you still at the blade, I checked out Tarmo and I noticed that you were running SoFaI and SoLaS. I'm still settling on a preferred package, how have they worked out for you? I'm also trying to see if any other swords are worth it as sideboard tools, or other equipment that could help out as tutorable sideboard options.

Truth is, I'm just sticking for now to my old standards as I just got back to the archetype!

I've never been able to not include SoFaI... The card is just too good at closing games and widening gaps, even today. SoLaS is a personal favorite of mine, mostly for its very relevant protections and the creature recursion.

On the same topic, how has SoFaF performed so far?

As for the other blades, I still like the mirran crusader + SoWaP invincible beater of death package, but I don't know if I should include it: after all, mentor fills such a role by himself nowadays. I may include it in my UW blade variant though. SoTaJ can fill that role about as effectively, I need to try both of them to decide.

SoSaS seems interesting, but I wouldn't run it in a control shell: there are more efficient ways to deal with artifacts, and if we can take time we might as well just hit a walker instead of having to side in a blade for that.

If you need a blade testing partner on Xmage, I'd be glad too help too. :)

And damn, that list of yours is still candy for the eye. I love the Lotus cobras+snow package, and Coatl seems to be an awesome equipment target.

Is Kaldra Compleat too aggro-ey for this list? Just curious why you chose not to add it. Unless you missed it in which case nevermind lol

zapyourtumor Kaldra Compleat is good right now, but I'm not sure how well it will line up against the removal in the format. The introduction of both Prismatic Ending and Solitude means it's a lot more fragile than it seems, and the stronger removal will also mean that Stoneforge herself will be less sticky. It may well be strong--I will definitely test it when I get my hands on one next week.

Fair.

Also, personally I think the Shardless package would be better for this deck than Prismatic Ending but I don't know much about the second card or what it could target. Shardless + force + subtlety seems solid

That's fucked, man. I'm sorry.

I have a Jeskai Stoneblade deck too, and I think this is a sick variant of the Stoneblade Family, wow. Honestly, I think Endurance is much better Sideboard, and you should run 3 copies of Solitude mainboard because the removal gives you a much better matchup against hard matchups like Tron, Izzet Tempo, Yawgmoth, and a lot of other decks.

I think you're right on Solitude being very much in vogue right now, and I'd love to up my numbers. I'm not sure those are the matchups where it shines the most though, especially over Endurance. I'd side out both against Tron probably, Endurance is arguably your best card against UR--though both are really good--and both interrupt Yawgmoth, though Solitude is slightly better. However, Endurance does feature a more efficient body and is better against UW, tied against Jund and Rhinos, better against Reanimator, etc.

I'm mostly rambling here, but it's just a bit of ekphrasis--I agree with you, but I'm just trying to prove what feels right with Solitude being right. Maybe it's in place of a different card? Katzmania

I guess we can justify running Endurance main deck, so I think Solitude goes in for Counterspell and/or Force of Negation. Realistically, you're blue count isn't going to be the highest against creature-based agro decks because they'll force you to use your resources, so Solitude is better in the Agro matchup, and better vs most mid-range lists because removal that can function as a two for one in your control deck is usually better than counter-magic. You'll see better results vs creature based decks that can be hard matchups until you hit batter skull, or Kaldra.
