FNM Report —May 13, 2013
3-1-0 at FNM, getting me to 3rd place. Seems like going up against godhand naya blitzes will wreck you. At least that deck went first place, so i don't feel too bad.
Round 1 - Bant Speaker Zegana - W 2-1 A normal bant deck with the main focus on Prime Speaker Zegana and card draw. My loss was attributed to getting trampled with Mr. Swagtusk.
Round 2 - Naya Blitz - L 1-2
Yup, your standard Naya Blitz deck. I couldn't stabilize in the first game, and the third game i had to mull down to 5 which hobbled me badly.
Round 3 - Izzet Goblin/Ral Zarek - W 2-1
First time i got to see Goblin Test Pilot in action...which in essence was a total determent to him. The first game he got dropped to 10 life, and then i was able to swing in with a triple Ethereal Armor Invisible Stalker for the win. The second game i got mana screwed with three drops in my hand. The third game was a blowout with me winning by turn 5. Going in with a double Ethereal Armor Invisible Stalker with Spectral Flight and Rancor, paired with Silverblade Paladin will ruin anyone's day.
Round 4 - Gruul Aggro - W 2-0
Unflinching Courage
saved my bacon this game. I was able to get Invisible Stalker out on turn 2, and turn three i was able to get Unflinching Courage on him, which was incredibly important since he drew a Bonfire of the Damned. Second game was a wrap with me dropping Strangleroot Geist turn two, then giving him five enchantments by turn four.
